Certain chipsets/SoCs like Apollo Lake use GEN_PMCON_B for periodic SMI rate selection unlike other chipsets which use GEN_PMCON_A. Select PERIODIC_SMI_RATE_SELECTION_IN_GEN_PMCON_B to indicate the register difference. 2022-10-22payloads/edk2: Disable the CPU Timer Lib unless supportedSean Rhodes
For recent X86 CPUs, the 0x15 CPUID instruction will return Time Stamp Counter Frequence. For CPUs that do not support this instruction, EDK2 must include a different library which is the reason why this must be configured at build time. If this is enabled, and the CPU doesn't support 0x15, it will fail to boot. If is not enabled, and the CPU does support 0x15, it will still boot but without support for the leaf. Consequently, disabled it by default. 2022-09-22soc/intel/common/pch: Add a block specific to Apollo LakeSean Rhodes
Add SOC_INTEL_COMMON_PCH_CLIENT which is specific to Apollo Lake. This is used to select the options that Apollo Lake requires, without the ones specific to a PCH as Apollo Lake doesn't have a PCH. This change also enables SOC_INTEL_COMMON_PCH_LOCKDOWN for Apollo Lake. 2022-09-19soc/intel/apollolake: LZ4 Compress FSP-MArthur Heymans
FSP-M is not run XIP so it can be compressed. This more than halves the binary size. 364544 bytes -> 168616 bytes. On the up/squared this also results in a 83ms speedup. TESTED: up/squared boots. 2022-05-18intel/common/block: Provide RAPL and min clock ratio switches in commonUwe Poeche
There are two APL specific config switches for RAPL and min. cpu clock (APL_SKIP_SET_POWER_LIMITS, APL_SET_MIN_CLOCK_RATIO). These switches could be used in future in other CPU platforms. Move them to common code instead of having them just for one SOC. Test: Make sure that the clock ratio (MSR 0x198) and the RAPL settings (MSR0x610) do not change with this patch applied on mc_apl{1,4,5} mainboard. 2022-03-29soc/intel: Move `pmc_clear_pmcon_sts()` into IA common codeSubrata Banik
This patch moves `pmc_clear_pmcon_sts` function into common code and remove SoC specific instances. Accessing PMC GEN_PMCON_A register differs between different Intel chipsets. Typically, there are two possible ways to perform GEN_PMCON_A register programming (like `pmc_clear_pmcon_sts()`) as: 1. Using PCI configuration space when GEN_PMCON_A is a PCI configuration register. 2. Using MMIO access when GEN_PMCON_A is a memory mapped register. SoC users to select `SOC_INTEL_MEM_MAPPED_PM_CONFIGURATION` Kconfig to perform GEN_PMCON_A register programming using PMC MMIO. BUG=b:211954778 TEST=Able to build brya. 2022-02-18drivers/fsp/fsp2_0: Rework FSP Notify Phase API configsSubrata Banik
This patch renames all FSP Notify Phase API configs to primarily remove "SKIP_" prefix. 1. SKIP_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_AFTER_PCI_ENUM -> USE_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_POST_PCI_ENUM 2. SKIP_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_READY_TO_BOOT -> USE_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_READY_TO_BOOT 3. SKIP_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_END_OF_FIRMWARE -> USE_FSP_NOTIFY_PHASE_END_OF_FIRMWARE The idea here is to let SoC selects all required FSP configs to execute FSP Notify Phase APIs unless SoC deselects those configs to run native coreboot implementation as part of the `.final` ops. For now all SoC that uses FSP APIs have selected all required configs to let FSP to execute Notify Phase APIs. Note: coreboot native implementation to skip FSP notify phase API (post pci enumeration) is still WIP. 2021-10-22arch/x86/ioapic: Select IOAPIC with SMPKyösti Mälkki
For coreboot proper, I/O APIC programming is not really required, except for the APIC ID field. We generally do not guard the related set_ioapic_id() or setup_ioapic() calls with CONFIG(IOAPIC). In practice it's something one cannot leave unselected, but maintain the Kconfig for the time being. Apollo Lake and Gemini Lake do not have a hardware PM ACPI timer but only uCode PM Timer emulation. Add a Kconfig `NO_PM_ACPI_TIMER` denoting SoCs without PM Timer and make it mutually exclusive with the Kconfig `USE_PM_ACPI_TIMER`. This is partly redundant to `PM_ACPI_TIMER_OPTIONAL`, which will be dropped in the follow-up change, though. 2021-07-02src: Introduce `ARCH_ALL_STAGES_X86`Angel Pons
Introduce the `ARCH_ALL_STAGES_X86` Kconfig symbol to automatically select the per-stage arch options. Subsequent commits will leverage this to allow choosing between 32-bit and 64-bit coreboot where all stages are x86. AMD Picasso and AMD Cezanne are the only exceptions to this rule: they disable `ARCH_ALL_STAGES_X86` and explicitly set the per-stage arch options accordingly. 2021-06-22soc/intel/{apl,cnl}: Remove FSP CAR optionArthur Heymans
One of the reason FSP-T support had to be kept in place was for Intel Bootguard. This now works with native CAR code, so there is no reason to keep FSP-T as an option for these platforms. APL did not even build with FSP_CAR and finding FSP-T using walkcbfs was only recently fixed using FMAP, so there can be no doubt that this option was never used with coreboot master. Added new config BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES to accomodate older x86 platforms that don't allow writing to SPI flash when early stages are running XIP from flash. If BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES is not selected, BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_RW_NOMMAP_EARLY will get auto-selected if BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_RW_NOMMAP=y. This allows for current platforms that write to flash in the earlier stages, assuming that they have that capability. 2020-06-19Kconfig: Escape variable to accommodate new Kconfig versionsPatrick Georgi
Kconfig 4.17 started using the $(..) syntax for environment variable expansion while we want to keep expansion to the build system. Older Kconfig versions (like ours) simply drop the escapes, not changing the behavior. While we could let Kconfig expand some of the variables, that only splits the handling in two places, making debugging harder and potentially messing with reproducible builds (e.g. when paths end up in configs), so escape them all. 2020-03-30intel/fsp2_0: Make FSP_USE_REPO a SoC opt-inJohanna Schander
For quite a bit now we are extending the FSP_USE_REPO option to be available for all Intel SoCs. This results in a list being not only hard to maintain but also prone to errors. To change that behaviour this commit introduces the HAVE_INTEL_FSP_REPO config option for SoCs that are supported from within 3rdparty/fsp. If a SoC selects HAVE_INTEL_FSP_REPO the config option FSP_USE_REPO is selected by default, but can be still deselected by the user in menuconfig. The fast spi driver implements hardware sequencing which abstracts away the underlying spi flash commands in the hardware block. It also has its own spi flash probe function to intercept the spi flash ops. As such it's not necessary to include all spi flash drivers. On a hatch Chrome OS build this saves 9.5KiB of text in each of verstage, romstage, and ramstage. 2019-11-03cpu/x86/tsc: Flip and rename TSC_CONSTANT_RATE to UNKNOWN_TSC_RATEKyösti Mälkki
The x86 timers are a bit of a mess. Cases where different stages use different counters and timestamps use different counters from udelays. The original intention was to only flip TSC_CONSTANT_RATE Kconfig to NOT_CONSTANT_TSC_RATE. The name would be incorrect though, those counters do run with a constant rate but we just lack tsc_freq_mhz() implementation for three platforms. Note that for boards with UNKNOWN_TSC_RATE=y, each stage will have a slow run of calibrate_tsc_with_pit(). This is easy enough to fix with followup implementation of tsc_freq_mhz() for the platforms. Implementations with LAPIC_MONOTONIC_TIMER typically will not have tsc_freq_mhz() implemented and default to UNKNOWN_TSC_RATE. However, as they don't use TSC for udelay() the slow calibrate_tsc_with_pit() is avoided. Because x86/tsc_delay.tsc was using two different guards and nb/via/vx900 claimed UDELAY_TSC, but pulled UDELAY_IO implementation, we also switch that romstage to use UDELAY_TSC. It is a user-visible option and enabled by default for ARCH_X86, some consider it as debugging aid only. Therefore platform design should not depend on it. It must remain selected with CHROMEOS and boards are allowed to explicitly select it as well. For siemens/mc_bdx1,mc_aplX boot time will be increased due the use of get_us_since_boot() with COLLECT_TIMESTAMPS=n. When unable to determine if N seconds has elapsed from boot, this turns into a delay of N seconds. 2019-08-08lib/stage_cache: Refactor Kconfig optionsKyösti Mälkki
Add explicit CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE option. Rename CACHE_RELOCATED_RAMSTAGE_OUTSIDE_CBMEM to TSEG_STAGE_CACHE. Platforms with SMM_TSEG=y always need to implement stage_cache_external_region(). It is allowed to return with a region of size 0 to effectively disable the cache. There are no provisions in Kconfig to degrade from TSEG_STAGE_CACHE to CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE. As a security measure CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE default is changed to disabled. AGESA platforms without TSEG will experience slower S3 resume speed unless they explicitly select the option. Re-add the Kconfig CONSOLE_UART_BASE_ADDRESS. It was lost by accident on APL at least. It is used outside of soc/intel/ scope, e.g. to con- figure SeaBIOS. As we only ever configure a single UART for the coreboot console, we don't need different addresses for each possible UART. Which saves us a lot of code. The option to specify a binary file name was added later for platforms that do not provide microcode updates in our blobs repository. Alas, it wasn't visible what platforms these are. And if you specified a file for a platform that already had one, they were all included together. Make it visible which platforms don't provide binaries with the new con- figs MICROCODE_BLOB_NOT_IN_BLOB_REPO, MICROCODE_BLOB_NOT_HOOKED_UP and MICROCODE_BLOB_UNDISCLOSED. Based on that we can decide if we want to include binaries by default or explicitly show that no files are inclu- ded (default to CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_NONE). Also split CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_GENERATE into the more explicit CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_DEFAULT_BINS and CPU_MICROCODE_CBFS_EXTERNAL_BINS. And clean up the visibility of options: Don't show CBFS related options on platforms that don't support it and don't show external file options if the platform uses special rules for multiple files (CPU_MICROCODE_ MULTIPLE_FILES). Everything is wrong here, the Kconfig symbols are only the tip of the iceberg. Based on Kconfig prompts the SoC code performed pad configu- rations! I don't see why the person who configures coreboot should have the board schematics at hand. As a mitigation, we remove the prompts for UART_DEBUG, which is renamed to INTEL_LPSS_UART_FOR_CONSOLE (because the former didn't really say what it's about), and for UART_FOR_CONSOLE in case the former is selec- ted. This change adds new macros to GPIO common library helpers to allow a GPI pad to be dual routed using PAD_CFG_GPI_DUAL_ROUTE. It also adds a helper macro to configure a pad for IRQ and wake. Above macros are guarded using a newly added Kconfig option SOC_INTEL_COMMON_BLOCK_GPIO_DUAL_ROUTE_SUPPORT that is selected only by SoCs that have been validated to allow dual route of GPIs. Currently, this config is selected only for APL/GLK/SKL/KBL that have been validated to work with dual-routing of GPIs for IRQ and wake. Make use of the common CF9 reset in SOC_INTEL_COMMON_RESET. Also implement board_reset() as a "full reset" (aka. cold reset) as that is what was used here for hard_reset(). Drop soc_reset_prepare() thereby, as it was only used for APL. Also, move the global-reset logic. We leave some comments to remind us that a system_reset() should be enough, where a full_reset() is called now (to retain current behaviour) and looks suspicious. Note, as no global_reset() is implemented for Denverton-NS, we halt there now instead of issuing a non-global reset. This seems safer; a non-global reset might result in a reset loop. With https://github.com/IntelFsp/FSP/pull/4 merged, this allows using Intel's FSP repo (that we mirror) to build a complete BIOS ifd region with a simple coreboot build, automatically drawing in headers and binaries. This commit covers Apollolake, Coffeelake, Skylake, and Kabylake. Skylake is using Kabylake's FSP since its own is FSP 1.1 and Kabylake's also supports Skylake. Another candidate (given 3rdparty/fsp's content) is Denverton NS, but it requires changes to coreboot's FSP bindings to become compatible. Cannonlake, Whiskeylake require an FSP release. HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE is used to enable certain options that rely on a valid Inter Flash Descriptor to exist. It does *not* identify platforms or boards that are capable of running in descriptor mode if it's valid. Refine the help text to make this clear. Introduce a new option INTEL_DESCRIPTOR_MODE_CAPABLE that does simply declare that IFD is supported by the platform. Select this value everywhere instead of the HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE and default HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE to y if INTEL_DESCRIPTOR_MODE_CAPABLE is selected. Move the QEMU Q35 special case (deselection of HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE) to the mainboard directory. Adding common chip config structure which will be used to return data to common code. When common code requires soc data, code used to fetch entire soc config structure. With this change, common code will only get the data/structure which is required by common code and not entire config. 2018-05-04ifdtool: Add a list of known platforms that support IFD_VERSION_2Furquan Shaikh
ifdtool has relied on one of the fields within FCBA(read_freq) to determine whether a platform supports IFD_VERSION_1 or IFD_VERSION_2. However, newer platforms like GLK and CNL do not have read_freq field in FCBA and so the value of these bits cannot be used as an indicator to distinguish IFD versions. In the long run, we need to re-write ifdtool to have a better mapping of SoC to IFD fields. But until that is done, this change adds a list of platforms that we know do not support read_freq field but still use IFD_VERSION_2. This change also updates GLK and CNL to pass in platform parameter to ifdtool. 2018-04-27soc/intel/apollolake: enable cache-as-ram paging for glkAaron Durbin
Add support and enalbe cache-as-ram paging for glk to work around a cache-as-ram corruption issue. glk executes verstage, romstage, and FSP-M directly out of cache-as-ram (just like apl). However, the front end on glk is very agressive about pulling cache lines into L1I for potential execution. When the snoops hit in the L1D and the cache lines are dirty the processor writes the line back. However, there is no backing store for the dirty lines to go. As such when the line is pulled back in the value is all 0xff's, corrupting cache-as-ram. To fix the issue one needs to enable paging with NX (no execute) permissions which prevents the above actions from happening because the TLB will indicate that shouldn't be fetched into the instruction cache since data will be marked no execute. The generated page tables are added to cbfs and only added to the COREBOOT cbfs as they are only consumed in the early cache-as-ram stages.
