2024-01-24southbridge: Rename Makefiles from .inc to .mkMartin Roth
The .inc suffix is confusing to various tools as it's not specific to Makefiles. This means that editors don't recognize the files, and don't open them with highlighting and any other specific editor functionality. This issue is also seen in the release notes generation script where Makefiles get renamed before running cloc. 2023-10-11sb/intel/common/spi: Fix I/O alignmentPatrick Rudolph
On ICH9 the SPI control register is not naturally aligned and a word write might be split into smaller naturally aligned I/O transactions. As the first byte starts a new SPI transfer, replace the existing word write with two byte writes and write the second byte first. This is required for platforms that do not support unaligned word I/O instructions and would start a SPI transfer while the second byte hasn't reached the control register yet. TEST: Virtual SPI controller on qemu 8.0 doesn't start a transfer early. 2023-04-26soc/intel: Don't report _S1 state when unsupportedArthur Heymans
Since skylake Intel hardware does not support this sleep state. Trying to enter S1 by having the OS enter sleep results in a system hang on at least Alder lake (prodrive/atlas). CONFIG_SOC_INTEL_COMMON_BLOCK_PMC is a good proxy whether devices support 'skylake style' PMC PCI device for ACPI registers. Boards with SOC_INTEL_COMMON_BLOCK_ACPI_CPU_HYBRID have special handling for the time being. Change of aopen/dxplplusu is coupled with sb/intel/i82801dx. Change of emulation/qemu-i440fx is coupled with intel/i82371eb. For asus/p2b, this adds MADT LAPIC entries, even though platform has ACPI_NO_MADT selected. Even previously ACPI_NO_MADT creates the MADT, including an entry for LAPIC address. In src/soc/intel/denverton_ns: #define TCO2_STS_SECOND_TO 0x02 In soc/intel/baytrail,braswell: #define SECOND_TO_STS (1 << 17) Elsewehere #define SECOND_TO_STS (1 << 1) It's expected that we remove the first (1 << 17) case and only access TCO2_STS as a separate 16-bit register. For now, use unique names to avoid confusion. 2022-11-28sb,soc/intel: Apply transitional flag TCO_SPACE_NOT_YET_SPLITKyösti Mälkki
Tree is inconsistent with the use of TCO register space offsets and related preprocessor defines. The legacy space was offset from ACPI PM base by 0x60, but this changed with later platforms. The convenient way is to define the TCO registers relative to its base address and subtract 0x60 here, but this change cannot be easily done tree-wide or in one go. For the transient period, apply TCO_SPACE_NOT_YET_SPLIT flag until all platforms use a clean style of tco_{read,write} accessor functions instead of {read,write}_pmbase16(), or worse, inw/outl(). When ACPI GPE0 block was extended to 64 events or 8 bytes, ACPI PM register space was slightly modified. After adjustment, PM2_CNT register moved to 0x50 where register SS_CNT was previously defined to be. For platforms that have a valid use for PM2_CNT==0x50 in their FADT, remove overlapping definition of SS_CNT. On i82801dx/gx ACPI GPE0 supports 32 events, reset_gpe0_status() incorrectly addressed also GPE0_EN register. For a bit cleaner implementation, define GPE0_HAS_64_EVENTS. That vendor firmware still works after applying `me_cleaner` doesn't mean that coreboot will also work with the same broken ME firmware. Instead, one should first test coreboot with the original, unmodified ME firmware to make sure coreboot works properly, and only then consider using `me_cleaner` with coreboot. Otherwise, one would end up with a non-booting or otherwise misbehaving system when trying to use coreboot and `me_cleaner` without having tested coreboot with the original ME firmware beforehand, which is hard to diagnose as the problem may only happen when the ME isn't running normally. In the following changes, CSE binary for some platforms will be stitched at build time instead of adding a pre-built binary. This change adds a new Kconfig `STITCH_ME_BIN` which allows mainboard to select if it wants to stitch CSE binary instead of adding a pre-built one. In this case, ME_BIN_PATH is not visible to user and instead mainboard and/or SoC code is expected to provide the recipe for stitching the CSE image. 2021-06-21security/intel: Add option to enable SMM flash access onlyAngel Pons
On platforms where the boot media can be updated externally, e.g. using a BMC, add the possibility to enable writes in SMM only. This allows to protect the BIOS region even without the use of vboot, but keeps SMMSTORE working for use in payloads. Note that this breaks flashconsole, since the flash becomes read-only. Tested on Asrock B85M Pro4 and HP 280 G2, SMM BIOS write protection works as expected, and SMMSTORE can still be used. Target added to INTERMEDIATE all operate on coreboot.pre, each modifying the file in some way. When running them in parallel, coreboot.pre can be read from and written to in parallel which can corrupt the result. Add a function to create those rules that also adds existing INTERMEDIATE targets to enforce an order (as established by evaluation order of Makefile.inc files). While at it, also add the addition to the PHONY target so we don't forget it. 2021-01-08cbfstool: Use flock() when accessing CBFS filesJulius Werner
Trying to do multiple operations on the same CBFS image at the same time likely leads to data corruption. For this reason, add BSD advisory file locking (flock()) to cbfstool (and ifittool which is using the same file I/O library), so that only one process will operate on the same file at the same time and the others will wait in line. This should help resolve parallel build issues with the INTERMEDIATE target on certain platforms. Unfortunately, some platforms use the INTERMEDIATE target to do a direct dd into the CBFS image. This should generally be discouraged and future platforms should aim to clearly deliminate regions that need to be written directly by platform scripts with custom FMAP sections, so that they can be written with `cbfstool write`. For the time being, update the legacy platforms that do this with explicit calls to the `flock` utility.
