2019-04-01vboot: Select CONFIG_VBOOT_OPROM_MATTERS in more casesJulius Werner
This patch enables CONFIG_VBOOT_OPROM_MATTERS in a few more cases where I think(?) it should be. Haswell, Broadwell and Baytrail Chromebooks have this enabled in their old depthcharge firmware branches -- we presumably just forgot to move it over when vboot2 migrated the option to coreboot. Braswell didn't, but it seems like this requirement was added when it was migrated to FSP 1.1...? (Not very sure about that one, but it does call load_vbt() right now which executes things based on display_init_required().) Additionally, it seems to make sense to enable it whenever the user explicitly selects VGA_ROM_RUN in menuconfig (like one of the Intel defconfigs does). Once we have all this, one could take a step back and ask whether this option still makes sense at all anymore. It's enabled for almost all devices (that work with vboot at all), it will presumably be enabled for all future devices, and it seems that most devices that don't enable it use libgfxinit, which as far as I can tell isn't gated on display_init_required() but probably should be. Realistically, whatever kind of display init a board needs to do (native or option ROM), it's probably expensive enough that it's worth skipping on a normal mode vboot boot, and we'd want to have this enabled by default on everything except boards that actually don't have a display. So maybe we should flip it around to CONFIG_VBOOT_OPROM_DOESNT_MATTER, but doing that would probably lead to nobody ever selecting it at all. Not sure what the best solution there is yet, but I think this patch at least moves things in the more correct direction. 2019-01-03nb/intel/haswell: Add support for PEGTristan Corrick
This means that any PCIe device placed in a PEG slot should now work. During S3 resume, link training sometimes does not complete before device enumeration. However, no tangible issues have been observed. Fixing it would introduce a rather large delay in S3 resume. There are a few minor shortcomings: - Using PEG for display output is not yet supported. - Only PEG2 is supported. An extra (unknown) training sequence is said to be needed for PEG3. - The ACPI _PRT method is not yet generated, so legacy interrupt routing doesn't work for devices with multiple functions. Tested on an ASRock H81M-HDS. Using a Radeon HD 6450 graphics card works under GNU/Linux, with PRIME [1]. An x1 PCIe card was also tested in the PEG slot, and it appears functional. Processor graphics is disabled on, for example, the C222 and C224 chipsets. The change to resource assignment in northbridge.c prevents the following warning that occurs when the IGD is disabled: > skipping PCI: 00:00.0@3 fixed resource, size=0! Tested on a Supermicro X10SLM+-F, which has the IGD disabled by the chipset. The graphics memory is reclaimed and no issues were observed. Also tested on an ASRock H81M-HDS. This board has an IGD, but no regressions were observed. 2018-12-29nb/intel/haswell: Don't unconditionally set DEVENTristan Corrick
The existing code sets DEVEN with the intention of enabling the IGD and Mini-HD audio. However, according to the datasheet [1] and some testing on hardware, the bits in DEVEN are set by default if and only if the straps/fuses say the device should be enabled. To illustrate this, here are a few initial values of DEVEN on some Haswell systems: Supermicro X10SLM+-F: 0x0000002d ASRock H81M-HDS: 0x00000039 Acer C720: 0x000000b1 On the X10SLM+-F, the IGD is disabled by default, and PEG10 & PEG11 are enabled by default. On the C720, the PEG devices are all disabled by default, while the IGD and Mini-HD audio are already enabled. There are two issues that result from the existing behaviour: PEG devices are unconditionally disabled, and devices are set as enabled when it's not actually possible to enable them. So, don't touch the DEVEN register at this stage, as there are no benefits. Interestingly, on an Acer C720 (Google Peppy), a PCI device 00:04.0 appears. It is a thermal sensor. `powerstat` was used to measure idle power usage over 30 minutes under Debian GNU/Linux 9.6. There was no change in reported power draw. 2018-12-29nb/intel/haswell: Use DEVEN to disable devicesTristan Corrick
This allows devices to be properly disabled when they are set to `off` in the devicetree, or when a device has its `enabled` property set to false. A message is printed stating that a device is being disabled, even if it was already disabled via DEVEN. However, it could be useful to have this information, so such messages are kept. The device 00:04.0 is a thermal sensor on the Acer C720, but it has not been named as such in this patch. This is because the public datasheets never formally acknowledge what the device is, and how it might differ across platforms. Tested on a Supermicro X10SLM+-F. The Mini-HD audio is disabled now, silencing a warning from Linux. Also tested on an Acer C720 (Google Peppy). Disabling "device 4" from devicetree.cb works. Also tested on an ASRock H81M-HDS. For this device, and all other test devices, there were no regressions observed. On an ASRock H81M-HDS neither libgfxinit, nor Linux, is able to initialise the display when lanes are not configured to be shared between DDI A and DDI E. Intel's reference manual [1] states that the decision to share lanes between DDI A and DDI E is "based on board configuration". Hence, add a new field to the devicetree that boards can set. All existing Haswell boards have this unset, thus taking a value of 0, so there is no change to existing behaviour. Its spreading copies got out of sync. And as it is not a standard header but used in commonlib code, it belongs into commonlib. While we are at it, always include it via GCC's `-include` switch. 2017-06-16haswell: add CBMEM_MEMINFO table when initing RAMMatt DeVillier
Populate a memory_info struct with PEI and SPD data, in order to inject the CBMEM_INFO table necessary to populate a type17 SMBIOS table. On Broadwell, this is done by the MRC binary, but the older Haswell MRC binary doesn't populate the pei_data struct with all the info needed, so we have to pull it from the SPD. Some values are hardcoded based on platform specifications. 2017-06-08device/Kconfig: Put gfx init methods into a `choice`Nico Huber
Provide all gfx init methods as a Kconfig `choice`. This elimates the option to select native gfx init along with running a Video BIOS. It's been only theoretically useful in one corner case: Hybrid graphics where only one controller is supported by native gfx init. Though I suppose in that case it's fair to assume that one would use SeaBIOS to run the VBIOS. For the case that we want the payload to initialize graphics or no pre-boot graphics at all, the new symbol NO_GFX_INIT was added to the choice. If multiple options are available, the default is chosen as follows: * NO_GFX_INIT, if we add a Video BIOS and the payload is SeaBIOS, * VGA_ROM_RUN, if we add a Video BIOS and the payload is not SeaBIOS, * NATIVE_VGA_INIT, if we don't add a Video BIOS. As a side effect, libgfxinit is now an independent choice. 2017-03-28vboot: Select SoC-specific configuration for all Chrome OS boardsJulius Werner
Some Chrome OS boards previously didn't have a hardcoded vboot configuration (e.g. STARTS_IN_BOOTBLOCK/_ROMSTAGE, SEPARATE_VERSTAGE, etc.) selected from their SoC and mainboard Kconfig files, and instead relied on the Chrome OS build system to pass in those options separately. Since there is usually only one "best" vboot configuration for a certain board and there is often board or SoC code specifically written with that configuration in mind (e.g. memlayout), these options should not be adjustable in menuconfig and instead always get selected by board and SoC Makefiles (as opposed to some external build system). (Removing MAINBOARD_HAS_CHROMEOS from Urara because vboot support for Pistachio/MIPS was never finished. Trying to enable even post-romstage vboot leads to weird compiler errors that I don't want to track down now. Let's stop pretending this board has working Chrome OS support because it never did.) On Broadwell, this reduces the number of 'remarks' in the IASL build from 222 to 3. Fixes these remarks: Object is not referenced (Name is within method [_CRS]) The ACPI compiler is trying to be helpful in letting us know that we're not using various fields in the MCRS ResourceTemplate when we define it inside of the _CRS method. Since we're not intending to use those objects in the method, it shouldn't be an issue, but the warning is annoying and can mask real issues. Moving the creation of the MCRS object to outside of the CRS method and referencing it from there solves this problem. The reason for hardcoding the position of the MRC cache was to satisfy the alignment to the erase size of the flash chip. Hardcoding is no longer needed, as we can specify alignment directly. In the long term, the MRC cache will have to move to FMAP, but for now, we reduce fragmentation in CBFS. Note that soc/intel/common hardcoding of mrc.cache is not removed, as the mrc cache implementation there does not use CBFS to find the cache region, and needs a hardcoded address.
