2021-10-29lib/cbfs: Enable cbfs_cache for x86Raul E Rangel
The reason cbfs_cache was disabled on x86 was due to the lack of .data sections in the pre-RAM stages. By using ENV_STAGE_HAS_DATA_SECTION we enable x86 to start using the cbfs_cache. 2021-10-29soc/intel/alderlake: Add ACPI addition for USB4/TBT latency optimizationJohn Zhao

2021-10-29soc/intel/apollolake: Fix BUG-message when checking for XDCI deviceWerner Zeh
The current check for XDCI enabled uses a static device path to an internal PCI device at a very late point in the boot flow. At this time the devicetree has been processed and disabled devices have been already removed. If this device (00:15.1, XDCI) is disabled in devicetree this will trigger the message 'BUG: check_xdci_enable requests hidden 00:15.1' in the log. This looks weird and is wrong since it is not a bug to disable this device when it is not needed. To avoid this look up the devicetree by a tree walk instead of using a static value for the devicetree. 2021-10-29drivers/intel/fsp2_0: Allow `mp_startup_all_cpus()` to run seriallySubrata Banik
As per MP service specification, EDK2 is allowed to specify the mode in which a 'func' routine should be executed on APs. `SingleThread` sets to 'true' meaning to execute the function one by one (serially) or sets to 'false' meaning to execute the function simultaneously. MP service API `StartupAllAPs` was designed to pass such options as part of function argument. But another MP service API `StartupAllCPUs` doesn't specify any such requirement. Running the `func` simultaneously on APs results in a coherency issue (hang while executing `func`) due to lack of acquiring a spin lock while accessing common data structure in multiprocessor environment. 2021-10-28drivers/net/r8168.c: Guard against generating power resourceArthur Heymans
Not all platforms need to generate power resources, but the code does not get optimized out at build time because the devicetree gets compiled into a linked list. As this code pulls in some heavy ACPI dependencies that is even implemented with weak empty function it makes sense to optimize out this code using a Kconfig constant. This saves 1.5K in ramstage size on gigabyte/ga-945gcm-s2l. GSC_SOC_INT_L gpio is used by Google Security Chip (GSC) to interrupt SoC when the SoC is in S0 state. Hence use GPIO_85 which is in S0 domain and save the GPIO_3 in S5 domain for other use-cases. On all upcoming variants and board versions of existing variants, SD_AUX_RESET_L signal moves from GPIO_69 to GPIO_5. This means all boards except: * All board versions of Guybrush * Nipperkin Board Version 1. Also in Nipperkin, LCD_PRIVACY_PCH signal moves from GPIO_5 to GPIO_18. Configure the gpios accordingly in baseboard, guybrush and nipperkin variants accordingly. Also update the DXIO port descriptor for SD PCIe engine with the corresponding AUX reset GPIO. 2021-10-26src/cpu: drop CPU_X86_CACHE_HELPER and x86_enable_cache wrapper functionFelix Held
Selecting CPU_X86_CACHE_HELPER only added the x86_enable_cache wrapper function around enable_cache which additionally wrote a POST code to port 0x80 and printed a message to the console. This function was only called during multi-processor initialization in ramstage via the init function pointer in the CPU's device operations struct and was run on all cores, so the message on the console was printed once per CPU core. This patch replaces all x86_enable_cache calls by calls to enable_cache and removes the wrapper function and the Kconfig symbol CPU_X86_CACHE_HELPER which was used to only add this when the corresponding CPUs used the x86_enable_cache wrapper function. Since all x86 CPUs in tree have MTRR support, there is no need to guard the DISPLAY_MTRRS option with HAVE_DISPLAY_MTRRS. Also all x86 CPUs/SoCs have a display_mtrrs call at least somewhere in their code, so selecting the DISPLAY_MTRRS option will always have an effect. All SoCs that don't select RESET_VECTOR_IN_RAM have the postcar stage where it gets called. The two AMD SoCs that select RESET_VECTOR_IN_RAM use the FSP2 driver which contains plenty of display_mtrrs calls. 2021-10-26soc/intel/quark/Kconfig: don't unselect CPU_X86_LAPICFelix Held
The Intel Quark SoC does have a LAPIC on its x86 CPU core, so we should select CPU_X86_LAPIC. This will additionally include the Makefile from cpu/x86/lapic. Since none of AP_IN_SIPI_WAIT, LEGACY_SMP_INIT and UDELAY_LAPIC gets selected, only the boot_cpu.c and lapic.c targets will be added to the build. Since SMP isn't set, adding the boot_cpu.c target won't change the resulting binary of a timeless build, since the only function inside will be removed by the compiler's pre-processor in the !SMP case. So the only thing that will change the resulting binary is the addition of the lapic.c target. From this target only the function cpu_get_lapic_addr will be used which overrides the weak implementation in acpi/acpi.c. The call in arch/x86/mpspec.c can be ignored, since GENERATE_MP_TABLE isn't selected. So this change will result in the LAPIC address in the MADT being changed from 0 to to LAPIC_DEFAULT_BASE. Since the documentation of the Quark SoC mentions that it has a LAPIC on its one x86 core, this should work. 2021-10-26cpu/x86: Introduce and use `CPU_X86_LAPIC`Felix Held
With using a Kconfig option to add the x86 LAPIC support code to the build, there's no need for adding the corresponding directory to subdirs in the CPU/SoC Makefile. Comparing which CPU/SoC Makefiles added (cpu/)x86/mtrr and (cpu/)x86/lapic before this and the corresponding MTRR code selection patch and having verified that all platforms added the MTRR code on that patch shows that soc/example/min86 and soc/intel/quark are the only platforms that don't end up selecting the LAPIC code. So for now the default value of CPU_X86_LAPIC is chosen as y which gets overridden to n in the Kconfig of the two SoCs mentioned above. 2021-10-25cpu,soc/x86: always include cpu/x86/mtrr on x86 CPUs/SoCsFelix Held
All x86-based CPUs and SoCs in the coreboot tree end up including the Makefile in cpu/x86/mtrr, so include this directly in the Makefile in cpu/x86 to add it for all x86 CPUs/SoCs. In the unlikely case that a new x86 CPU/SoC will be added, a CPU_X86_MTRR Kconfig option that is selected be default could be added and the new CPU/SoC without MTRR support can override this option that then will be used in the Makefile to guard adding the Makefile from the cpu/x86/mtrr sub-directory. In cpu/intel all models except model 2065X and 206AX are selcted by a socket and rely on the socket's Makefile.inc to add x86/mtrr to the subdirs, so those models don't add x86/mtrr themselves. The Intel Broadwell SoC selects CPU_INTEL_HASWELL and which added x86/mtrr to the subdirs. The Intel Xeon SP SoC directory contains two sub-folders for different versions or generations which both add x86/mtrr to the subdirs in their Makefiles. 2021-10-25drivers/pc80/tpm: Use stopwatch for timeout-loopsWerner Zeh
There are manual timeout-loops which use a fixed value and udelay(). In all cases there is a debug printk() inside this loop which, when enabled, takes way longer than the counted microsecond delay. This leads to the result that e.g. a 1 second delay takes nearly an eternity if the debug messages are enabled due to the longer function execution time. This patch uses the stopwatch scheme for the timeout-loops which still makes sure that the timeout period is maintained while it takes longer function calls like printk() into account. In order to keep the minimum delay between two register accesses on the TPM keep the udelay(1)-call. TEST=Enable TPM debug messages on a board where the TPM hits a timeout by failure and make sure that the debug messages occur in the log just in the timeout period. It still works as expected if the debug messages are disabled. When a chipset or mainboard devicetree doesn't have any LAPIC devices in its CPU cluster, not only the LAPIC device, but also the link/bus between the CPU cluster device and the LAPIC devices will be missing and the CPU cluster's dev->link_list will be NULL. This patch handles this case in the common code like commit 3c0ecd57c174b7391c66d22406effe18ce570cac (soc/intel/common/cpu: Handle non-zero BSP APIC ID in init_cpus) and commit ba936ce5db819d5ecb34e83a998b2390ecbdc4b9 (soc/intel/denverton_ns: Ensure CPU device has a valid link) already did in the common Intel SoC and the Denverton code. With this change all CPUs and SoC that use the common mp_cpu_bus_init as init function in the CPU cluster's device operations struct won't require having at least one LAPIC device in the chipset or mainboard device tree. 2021-10-22cpu/x86/mp_init: move printing of failure message into mp_init_with_smmFelix Held
Each CPU/SoC checks the return value of the mp_init_with_smm and prints the same error message if it wasn't successful, so move this check and printk to mp_init_with_smm. For this the original mp_init_with_smm function gets renamed to do_mp_init_with_smm and a new mp_init_with_smm function is created which then calls do_mp_init_with_smm, prints the error if it didn't return CB_SUCCESS and passes the return value of do_mp_init_with_smm to its caller. Since no CPU/SoC code handles a mp_init_with_smm failure apart from printing a message, also add a comment at the mp_init_with_smm call sites that the code might want to handle a failure. Some elements in the ACPI CPPC table allow static DWORDs. Instead of using a fake register resource, use a tagged union with the two types "register" and "DWORD" and respective macros for CPPC table entries. Test: dumped SSDT before and after do not differ. 2021-10-21mb/google/guybrush: Add PCIe Reset GPIO18 to PCIE WWAN DXIO DescriptorKarthikeyan Ramasubramanian
WWAN_AUX_RST_L is asserted during S0i3 entry. But it needs to be de-asserted before PCIe link training during S0i3 resume. Otherwise the concerned gpp_bridge_2 PCIe device is not enumerated on Soi3 resume. This change feeds in the WWAN_AUX_RST_L GPIO in the DXIO descriptor so that SMU de-asserts this reset on S0i3 resume. BUG=b:199780346 TEST=Build and boot to OS in Guybrush. Perform suspend/resume cycles for 500 iterations. Ensure that the PCIe devices enumerate fine. 2021-10-21cpu/x86/mp_init: use cb_err as run_ap_work return typeFelix Held
Using cb_err as return type clarifies the meaning of the different return values. To not change the return types of mp_run_on_aps which is exposed outside of this compilation unit to keep the scope of this patch limited, the return value of run_ap_work gets translated to the int values in mp_run_on_aps. This could also be done by a cast of the run_ap_work return value to int, but an explicit translation of the return values should be clearer about what it does there.
