2022-12-07mb,sb,soc/intel: Drop useless IO trap handlersKyösti Mälkki
There are four requirements for the SMI to hit a printk() this commit now removes. Build must have DEBUG_SMI=y, otherwise any printk() is a no-op inside SMM. ASL must have a TRAP() with argument 0x99 or 0x32 for SMIF value. Platform needs to have IO Trap #3 enabled at IO 0x800. The SMI monitor must call io_trap_handler for IO Trap #3. At the moment, only getac/p470 would meet the above criteria with TRAP(0x32) in its DSDT _INI method. The ASL ignores any return value of TRAP() calls made. A mainboard IO trap handler should have precedence over a southbridge IO trap handler. At the moment we seem to have no cases of the latter to support, so remove the latter. 2022-11-28sb,soc/intel: Address TCO SECOND_TO_STS name collisionKyösti Mälkki
Later soc/intel/common/smbus addresses TCO2_STS as a separate 16-bit register, while baytrail and braswell assumes 32-bit wide TCO1_STS to extend as TCO2_STS. In src/soc/intel/denverton_ns: #define TCO2_STS_SECOND_TO 0x02 In soc/intel/baytrail,braswell: #define SECOND_TO_STS (1 << 17) Elsewehere #define SECOND_TO_STS (1 << 1) It's expected that we remove the first (1 << 17) case and only access TCO2_STS as a separate 16-bit register. 2022-11-28sb,soc/intel: Apply transitional flag TCO_SPACE_NOT_YET_SPLITKyösti Mälkki
Tree is inconsistent with the use of TCO register space offsets and related preprocessor defines. The legacy space was offset from ACPI PM base by 0x60, but this changed with later platforms. The convenient way is to define the TCO registers relative to its base address and subtract 0x60 here, but this change cannot be easily done tree-wide or in one go. For the transient period, apply TCO_SPACE_NOT_YET_SPLIT flag until all platforms use a clean style of tco_{read,write} accessor functions instead of {read,write}_pmbase16(), or worse, inw/outl(). 2022-11-17sb/intel/common: Fix GPE0 related register conflictKyösti Mälkki
When ACPI GPE0 block was extended to 64 events or 8 bytes, ACPI PM register space was slightly modified. After adjustment, PM2_CNT register moved to 0x50 where register SS_CNT was previously defined to be. For platforms that have a valid use for PM2_CNT==0x50 in their FADT, remove overlapping definition of SS_CNT. On i82801dx/gx ACPI GPE0 supports 32 events, reset_gpe0_status() incorrectly addressed also GPE0_EN register. For a bit cleaner implementation, define GPE0_HAS_64_EVENTS. This patch aims to make timestamps more consistent in naming, to follow one pattern. Until now there were many naming patterns: - TS_START_*/TS_END_* - TS_BEFORE_*/TS_AFTER_* - TS_*_START/TS_*_END This change also aims to indicate, that these timestamps can be used to create time-ranges, e.g. from TS_BOOTBLOCK_START to TS_BOOTBLOCK_END. 2022-02-25arch/x86: consolidate HPET base address definitionsFelix Held
Both the HPET_BASE_ADDRESS define from arch/x86/include/arch/hpet.h and the HPET_ADDRESS Kconfig option define the base address of the HPET MMIO region which is 0xfed00000 on all chipsets and SoCs in the coreboot tree. Since these two different constants are used in different places that however might end up used in the same coreboot build, drop the Kconfig option and use the definition from arch/x86 instead. Since it's no longer needed to check for a mismatch of those two constants, the corresponding checks are dropped too. 2022-02-25arch/x86/Kconfig: add HPET_MIN_TICKSFelix Held
Some Intel southbridges have HPET_MIN_TICKS in their Kconfig files, but the CONFIG_HPET_MIN_TICKS symbol is used in the common acpi code in acpi/acpi.c, so define this option in arch/x86/Kconfig to have it defined in all cases where the function that ends up using this information gets called. Since we now have the type information for this Kconfig option in a central place, it can be dropped from the Kconfig file of the Intel southbridges that change the default value. 2022-02-07treewide: Remove "ERROR: "/"WARN: " prefixes from log messagesJulius Werner
Now that the console system itself will clearly differentiate loglevels, it is no longer necessary to explicitly add "ERROR: " in front of every BIOS_ERR message to help it stand out more (and allow automated tooling to grep for it). This patch was created by running find src/ -type f -exec perl -0777 -pi -e 's/printk\(\s*BIOS_ERR,\s*"ERROR: /printk\(BIOS_ERR, "/gi' '{}' ';' and doing some cursory review/cleanup on the result. 2021-02-07sb/intel/bd82x6x: Support ME Soft Temporary Disable ModeEvgeny Zinoviev
- Add support for ME Soft Temporary Disable Mode. In this mode, ME doesn't load its kernel and freezes at Bring UP (BUP) phase. This mode is saved in ME NVRAM (and thus will remain for next reboots and poweroffs). - Add support of new CMOS option for Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge ThinkPads. HOW TO USE To disable ME: 1. nvramtool -w me_state=Disabled 2. reboot To enable it back: 1. nvramtool -w me_state=Normal 2. reboot To check current status: intelmetool -m Tested on ThinkPad X230 and ThinkPad X220. BACKGROUND There's no Intel documentation that would explain how this should be implemented, in public. Working binary sequence for MKHI command to put ME in Soft Temporary Disable Mode, as well as a way to bring ME out of it (by writing to H_GS register), was found and published by researchers from PT Security: 1. To disable ME, BIOS issues the disable command (before End of Post) and reboots. ME is supposed to be disabled on the next boot after DID (DRAM Init Done). My numerous tests show that issuing the command and rebooting is not enough. If we reboot too early, ME will not be disabled. Apparently, it is doing something in background after receiving the command. It works with a delay of 500-1000 ms. I also tried to dump all known (documented) registers, such as GMES and HFS, before and during the next 2 seconds after execution of the disable command to find a possible indication that something's changed in ME and we're ready to reboot. Found nothing unfortunately. 2. To enable ME back, host writes value 0x20000000 to H_GS. PT slides don't contain any more information on it, but my tests show, that after writing this value, GMES[31:28] is changing from 0x01 (BUP phase) to 0x03 (Policy Module) to 0x06 (Host Communication). Then, after some more time, fw_init_complete bit of HFS becomes 1. This means that ME starts loading its kernel immediately, without reboot. On the other hand, Lenovo BIOS clearly perform a reboot after enabling it (one reboot after saving the settings, then ThinkPad logo appears, and then one more reboot). I'm assuming we have to reset too. 2021-01-20ACPI GNVS: Drop APIC, factor out MPENKyösti Mälkki
APIC was not referenced anywhere in ASL. MPEN has references under boards: getac/p470, roda/rk9, roda/rk886ex. MPEN has reference also in Intel SpeedStep ASL. Replace static MPEN with detection of multiple CPUs installed. 2021-01-18ACPI: Refactor ChromeOS specific ACPI GNVSKyösti Mälkki
The layout of GNVS has expectation for a fixed size array for chromeos_acpi_t. This allows us to reduce the exposure of <chromeos/gnvs.h>. If chromeos_acpi_t was the last entry in struct global_nvs padding at the end is also removed. If device_nvs_t exists, place a properly sized reserve for chromeos_acpi_t in the middle. Allocation from cbmem is adjusted such that it matches exactly the OperationRegion size defined inside the ASL.
