2020-05-14samsung/exynos5420: add resources during read_resources()Furquan Shaikh
The chipset code was incorrectly adding memory resources to the domain device after resource allocation occurred. It's not possible to get the correct view of the address space, and it's generally incorrect to not add resources during read_resources(). This change fixes the order by adding resources in read_resources(). 2020-03-31security/vboot: Decouple measured boot from verified bootBill XIE
Currently, those who want to use measured boot implemented within vboot should enable verified boot first, along with sections such as GBB and RW slots defined with manually written fmd files, even if they do not actually want to verify anything. As discussed in CB:34977, measured boot should be decoupled from verified boot and make them two fully independent options. Crypto routines necessary for measurement could be reused, and TPM and CRTM init should be done somewhere other than vboot_logic_executed() if verified boot is not enabled. In this revision, only TCPA log is initialized during bootblock. Before TPM gets set up, digests are not measured into tpm immediately, but cached in TCPA log, and measured into determined PCRs right after TPM is up. This change allows those who do not want to use the verified boot scheme implemented by vboot as well as its requirement of a more complex partition scheme designed for chromeos to make use of the measured boot functionality implemented within vboot library to measure the boot process. TODO: Measure MRC Cache somewhere, as MRC Cache has never resided in CBFS any more, so it cannot be covered by tspi_measure_cbfs_hook(). 2020-03-18soc: Remove copyright noticesPatrick Georgi
They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. 2019-12-04Change all clrsetbits_leXX() to clrsetbitsXX()Julius Werner
This patch changes all existing instances of clrsetbits_leXX() to the new endian-independent clrsetbitsXX(), after double-checking that they're all in SoC-specific code operating on CPU registers and not actually trying to make an endian conversion. This patch was created by running sed -i -e 's/\([cs][le][rt]bits\)_le\([136][624]\)/\1\2/g' across the codebase and cleaning up formatting a bit. 2019-11-14lib/fmap: Add optional pre-RAM cacheJulius Werner
This patch adds an optional pre-RAM cache for the FMAP which most platforms should be able to use, complementing the recently added post-RAM FMAP cache in CBMEM. vboot systems currently read the FMAP about half a dozen times from flash in verstage, which will all be coalesced into a single read with this patch. It will also help future vboot improvements since when FMAP reads become "free" vboot doesn't need to keep track of so much information separately. In order to make sure we have a single, well-defined point where the new cache is first initialized, eliminate the build-time hardcoding of the CBFS section offsets, so that all CBFS accesses explicitly read the FMAP. Add FMAP_CACHEs to all platforms that can afford it (other than the RISC-V things where I have no idea how they work), trying to take the space from things that look like they were oversized anyway (pre-RAM consoles and CBFS caches). 2019-03-21vboot: standardize on working data sizeJoel Kitching
Previously, the size of memory made for vboot_working_data through the macro VBOOT2_WORK was always specified in each individual memlayout file. However, there is effectively no reason to provide this customizability -- the workbuf size required for verifying firmware has never been more than 12K. (This could potentially increase in the future if key sizes or algorithms are changed, but this could be applied globally rather than for each individual platform.) This CL binds the VBOOT2_WORK macro to directly use the VB2_WORKBUF_RECOMMENDED_DATA_SIZE constant as defined by vboot API. Since the constant needs to be used in a linker script, we may not include the full vboot API, and must instead directly include the vb2_constants.h header. 2019-02-22symbols.h: Add macro to define memlayout region symbolsJulius Werner
When <symbols.h> was first introduced, it only declared a handful of regions and we didn't expect that too many architectures and platforms would need to add their own later. However, our amount of platforms has greatly expanded since, and with them the need for more special memory regions. The amount of code duplication is starting to get unsightly, and platforms keep defining their own <soc/symbols.h> files that need this as well. This patch adds another macro to cut down the definition boilerplate. Unfortunately, macros cannot define other macros when they're called, so referring to region sizes as _name_size doesn't work anymore. This patch replaces the scheme with REGION_SIZE(name). Not touching the regions in the x86-specific <arch/symbols.h> yet since they don't follow the standard _region/_eregion naming scheme. They can be converted later if desired. 2017-08-14i2c: Move to Linux like `struct i2c_msg`Nico Huber
Our current struct for I2C segments `i2c_seg` was close to being compa- tible to the Linux version `i2c_msg`, close to being compatible to SMBus and close to being readable (e.g. what was `chip` supposed to mean?) but turned out to be hard to fix. Instead of extending it in a backwards compatible way (and not touching current controller drivers), replace it with a Linux source compatible `struct i2c_msg` and patch all the drivers and users with Coccinelle. The new `struct i2c_msg` should ease porting drivers from Linux and help to write SMBus compatible controller drivers. Beside integer type changes, the field `read` is replaced with a generic field `flags` and `chip` is renamed to `slave`. Patched with Coccinelle using the clumsy spatch below and some manual changes: * Nested struct initializers and one field access skipped by Coccinelle. * Removed assumption in the code that I2C_M_RD is 1. * In `i2c.h`, changed all occurences of `chip` to `slave`. @@ @@ -struct i2c_seg +struct i2c_msg @@ identifier msg; expression e; @@ ( struct i2c_msg msg = { - .read = 0, + .flags = 0, }; | struct i2c_msg msg = { - .read = 1, + .flags = I2C_M_RD, }; | struct i2c_msg msg = { - .chip = e, + .slave = e, }; ) @@ struct i2c_msg msg; statement S1, S2; @@ ( -if (msg.read) +if (msg.flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 else S2 | -if (msg.read) +if (msg.flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 ) @@ struct i2c_msg *msg; statement S1, S2; @@ ( -if (msg->read) +if (msg->flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 else S2 | -if (msg->read) +if (msg->flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 ) @@ struct i2c_msg msg; expression e; @@ ( -msg.read = 0; +msg.flags = 0; | -msg.read = 1; +msg.flags = I2C_M_RD; | -msg.read = e; +msg.flags = e ? 2017-06-13Consolidate reset API, add generic reset_prepare mechanismJulius Werner
There are many good reasons why we may want to run some sort of generic callback before we're executing a reset. Unfortunateley, that is really hard right now: code that wants to reset simply calls the hard_reset() function (or one of its ill-differentiated cousins) which is directly implemented by a myriad of different mainboards, northbridges, SoCs, etc. More recent x86 SoCs have tried to solve the problem in their own little corner of soc/intel/common, but it's really something that would benefit all of coreboot. This patch expands the concept onto all boards: hard_reset() and friends get implemented in a generic location where they can run hooks before calling the platform-specific implementation that is now called do_hard_reset(). The existing Intel reset_prepare() gets generalized as soc_reset_prepare() (and other hooks for arch, mainboard, etc. can now easily be added later if necessary). We will also use this central point to ensure all platforms flush their cache before reset, which is generally useful for all cases where we're trying to persist information in RAM across reboots (like the new persistent CBMEM console does). Also remove cpu_reset() completely since it's not used anywhere and doesn't seem very useful compared to the others. Some Chrome OS boards previously didn't have a hardcoded vboot configuration (e.g. STARTS_IN_BOOTBLOCK/_ROMSTAGE, SEPARATE_VERSTAGE, etc.) selected from their SoC and mainboard Kconfig files, and instead relied on the Chrome OS build system to pass in those options separately. Since there is usually only one "best" vboot configuration for a certain board and there is often board or SoC code specifically written with that configuration in mind (e.g. memlayout), these options should not be adjustable in menuconfig and instead always get selected by board and SoC Makefiles (as opposed to some external build system). (Removing MAINBOARD_HAS_CHROMEOS from Urara because vboot support for Pistachio/MIPS was never finished. Trying to enable even post-romstage vboot leads to weird compiler errors that I don't want to track down now. Let's stop pretending this board has working Chrome OS support because it never did.) 2016-11-22spi: Clean up SPI flash driver interfaceFurquan Shaikh
RW flag was added to spi_slave structure to get around a requirement on some AMD flash controllers that need to group together all spi volatile operations (write/erase). This rw flag is not a property or attribute of the SPI slave or controller. Thus, instead of saving it in spi_slave structure, clean up the SPI flash driver interface. This allows chipsets/mainboards (that require volatile operations to be grouped) to indicate beginning and end of such grouped operations. New user APIs are added to allow users to perform probe, read, write, erase, volatile group begin and end operations. Callbacks defined in spi_flash structure are expected to be used only by the SPI flash driver. Any chipset that requires grouping of volatile operations can select the newly added Kconfig option SPI_FLASH_HAS_VOLATILE_GROUP and define callbacks for chipset_volatile_group_{begin,end}. spi_claim_bus/spi_release_bus calls have been removed from the SPI flash chip drivers which end up calling do_spi_flash_cmd since it already has required calls for claiming and releasing SPI bus before performing a read/write operation. 2015-09-22linking: link bootblock.elf with .data and .bss sections againAaron Durbin
Currently coreboot expects the loader to clear the bss section for all stages. i.e. stages don't clear their own bss. On ARM SoCs the BootROM would be responsible for this. To do that one needs to include the bss section data (all zeros) in the bootblock.bin file. This was previously being attempted by keeping the .bss info in the .data section because objcopy happened zero out non-file allocated data section data. Instead go back to linking bootblock with the bss section but mark the bss section as loadable allocatable data. That way it will be included in the binary properly when objcopy -O binary is emplyed. Also do the same for the data section in the case of no non-zero object values are in the data section. Without this change the trick of including .bss in .data was not working when there wasn't a non-zero value object in the data section. 2015-06-02cbfs: new API and better program loadingAaron Durbin
A new CBFS API is introduced to allow making CBFS access easier for providing multiple CBFS sources. That is achieved by decoupling the cbfs source from a CBFS file. A CBFS source is described by a descriptor. It contains the necessary properties for walking a CBFS to locate a file. The CBFS file is then decoupled from the CBFS descriptor in that it's no longer needed to access the contents of the file. All of this is accomplished using the regions infrastructure by repsenting CBFS sources and files as region_devices. Because region_devices can be chained together forming subregions this allows one to decouple a CBFS source from a file. This also allows one to provide CBFS files that came from other sources for payload and/or stage loading. The program loading takes advantage of those very properties by allowing multiple sources for locating a program. Because of this we can reduce the overhead of loading programs because it's all done in the common code paths. Only locating the program is per source. 2015-04-14timer: Reestablish init_timer(), consolidate timer initialization callsJulius Werner
We have known for a while that the old x86 model of calling init_timer() in ramstage doesn't make sense on other archs (and is questionable in general), and finally removed it with CL:219719. However, now timer initialization is completely buried in the platform code, and it's hard to ensure it is done in time to set up timestamps. For three out of four non-x86 SoC vendors we have brought up for now, the timers need some kind of SoC-specific initialization. This patch reintroduces init_timer() as a weak function that can be overridden by platform code. The call in ramstage is restricted to x86 (and should probably eventually be removed from there as well), and other archs should call them at the earliest reasonable point in their bootblock. (Only changing arm for now since arm64 and mips bootblocks are still in very early state and should sync up to features in arm once their requirements are better understood.) This allows us to move timestamp_init() into arch code, so that we can rely on timestamps being available at a well-defined point and initialize our base value as early as possible. (Platforms who know that their timers start at zero can still safely call timestamp_init(0) again from platform code.) BRANCH=None BUG=None TEST=Booted Pinky, Blaze and Storm, compiled Daisy and Pit. 2015-04-14CBFS: Automate ROM image layout and remove hardcoded offsetsJulius Werner
Non-x86 boards currently need to hardcode the position of their CBFS master header in a Kconfig. This is very brittle because it is usually put in between the bootblock and the first CBFS entry, without any checks to guarantee that it won't overlap either of those. It is not fun to debug random failures that move and disappear with tiny alignment changes because someone decided to write "ORBC1112" over some part of your data section (in a way that is not visible in the symbolized .elf binaries, only in the final image). This patch seeks to prevent those issues and reduce the need for manual configuration by making the image layout a completely automated part of cbfstool. Since automated placement of the CBFS header means we can no longer hardcode its position into coreboot, this patch takes the existing x86 solution of placing a pointer to the header at the very end of the CBFS-managed section of the ROM and generalizes it to all architectures. This is now even possible with the read-only/read-write split in ChromeOS, since coreboot knows how large that section is from the CBFS_SIZE Kconfig (which is by default equal to ROM_SIZE, but can be changed on systems that place other data next to coreboot/CBFS in ROM). Also adds a feature to cbfstool that makes the -B (bootblock file name) argument on image creation optional, since we have recently found valid use cases for CBFS images that are not the first boot medium of the device (instead opened by an earlier bootloader that can already interpret CBFS) and therefore don't really need a bootblock. 2015-04-10gpio: Extend common GPIO header, simplify function namesJulius Werner
We've had gpiolib.h which defines a few common GPIO access functions for a while, but it wasn't really complete. This patch adds the missing gpio_output() function, and also renames the unwieldy gpio_get_in_value() and gpio_set_out_value() to the much easier to handle gpio_get() and gpio_set(). The header is renamed to the simpler gpio.h while we're at it (there was never really anything "lib" about it, and it was presumably just chosen due to the IPQ806x include/ conflict problem that is now resolved). It also moves the definition of gpio_t into SoC-specific code, so that different implementations are free to encode their platform-specific GPIO parameters in those 4 bytes in the most convenient way (such as the rk3288 with a bitfield struct). Every SoC intending to use this common API should supply a <soc/gpio.h> that typedefs gpio_t to a type at most 4 bytes in length. Files accessing the API only need to include <gpio.h> which may pull in additional things (like a gpio_t creation macro) from <soc/gpio.h> on its own. For now the API is still only used on non-x86 SoCs. Whether it makes sense to expand it to x86 as well should be separately evaluated at a later point (by someone who understands those systems better). Also, Exynos retains its old, incompatible GPIO API even though it would be a prime candidate, because it's currently just not worth the effort.
