2020-09-12include/console/uart: make index parameter unsignedFelix Held
The UART index is never negative, so make it unsigned and drop the checks for the index to be non-negative. 2020-06-13treewide: Add Kconfig variable MEMLAYOUT_LD_FILEFurquan Shaikh
This change defines a Kconfig variable MEMLAYOUT_LD_FILE which allows SoC/mainboard to provide a linker file for the platform. x86 already provides a default memlayout.ld under src/arch/x86. With this new Kconfig variable, it is possible for the SoC/mainboard code for x86 to provide a custom linker file as well. Makefile.inc is updated for all architectures to use this new Kconfig variable instead of assuming memlayout.ld files under a certain path. All non-x86 boards used memlayout.ld under mainboard directory. However, a lot of these boards were simply including the memlayout from SoC. So, this change also updates these mainboards and SoCs to define the Kconfig as required. BUG=b:155322763 TEST=Verified that abuild with --timeless option results in the same coreboot.rom image for all boards. 2020-03-31security/vboot: Decouple measured boot from verified bootBill XIE
Currently, those who want to use measured boot implemented within vboot should enable verified boot first, along with sections such as GBB and RW slots defined with manually written fmd files, even if they do not actually want to verify anything. As discussed in CB:34977, measured boot should be decoupled from verified boot and make them two fully independent options. Crypto routines necessary for measurement could be reused, and TPM and CRTM init should be done somewhere other than vboot_logic_executed() if verified boot is not enabled. In this revision, only TCPA log is initialized during bootblock. Before TPM gets set up, digests are not measured into tpm immediately, but cached in TCPA log, and measured into determined PCRs right after TPM is up. This change allows those who do not want to use the verified boot scheme implemented by vboot as well as its requirement of a more complex partition scheme designed for chromeos to make use of the measured boot functionality implemented within vboot library to measure the boot process. TODO: Measure MRC Cache somewhere, as MRC Cache has never resided in CBFS any more, so it cannot be covered by tspi_measure_cbfs_hook(). They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. This patch changes all existing instances of clrsetbits_leXX() to the new endian-independent clrsetbitsXX(), after double-checking that they're all in SoC-specific code operating on CPU registers and not actually trying to make an endian conversion. 2019-11-14lib/fmap: Add optional pre-RAM cacheJulius Werner
This patch adds an optional pre-RAM cache for the FMAP which most platforms should be able to use, complementing the recently added post-RAM FMAP cache in CBMEM. vboot systems currently read the FMAP about half a dozen times from flash in verstage, which will all be coalesced into a single read with this patch. It will also help future vboot improvements since when FMAP reads become "free" vboot doesn't need to keep track of so much information separately. In order to make sure we have a single, well-defined point where the new cache is first initialized, eliminate the build-time hardcoding of the CBFS section offsets, so that all CBFS accesses explicitly read the FMAP. Add FMAP_CACHEs to all platforms that can afford it (other than the RISC-V things where I have no idea how they work), trying to take the space from things that look like they were oversized anyway (pre-RAM consoles and CBFS caches). 2019-05-06Fix code that would trip -Wtype-limitsJulius Werner
This patch fixes up all code that would throw a -Wtype-limits warning. This sometimes involves eliminating unnecessary checks, adding a few odd but harmless casts or just pragma'ing out the warning for a whole file -- I tried to find the path of least resistance. 2019-03-21vboot: standardize on working data sizeJoel Kitching
Previously, the size of memory made for vboot_working_data through the macro VBOOT2_WORK was always specified in each individual memlayout file. However, there is effectively no reason to provide this customizability -- the workbuf size required for verifying firmware has never been more than 12K. (This could potentially increase in the future if key sizes or algorithms are changed, but this could be applied globally rather than for each individual platform.) This CL binds the VBOOT2_WORK macro to directly use the VB2_WORKBUF_RECOMMENDED_DATA_SIZE constant as defined by vboot API. Since the constant needs to be used in a linker script, we may not include the full vboot API, and must instead directly include the vb2_constants.h header. 2019-02-22symbols.h: Add macro to define memlayout region symbolsJulius Werner
When <symbols.h> was first introduced, it only declared a handful of regions and we didn't expect that too many architectures and platforms would need to add their own later. However, our amount of platforms has greatly expanded since, and with them the need for more special memory regions. The amount of code duplication is starting to get unsightly, and platforms keep defining their own <soc/symbols.h> files that need this as well. This patch adds another macro to cut down the definition boilerplate. Unfortunately, macros cannot define other macros when they're called, so referring to region sizes as _name_size doesn't work anymore. This patch replaces the scheme with REGION_SIZE(name). Not touching the regions in the x86-specific <arch/symbols.h> yet since they don't follow the standard _region/_eregion naming scheme. They can be converted later if desired. 2017-08-14i2c: Move to Linux like `struct i2c_msg`Nico Huber
Our current struct for I2C segments `i2c_seg` was close to being compa- tible to the Linux version `i2c_msg`, close to being compatible to SMBus and close to being readable (e.g. what was `chip` supposed to mean?) but turned out to be hard to fix. Instead of extending it in a backwards compatible way (and not touching current controller drivers), replace it with a Linux source compatible `struct i2c_msg` and patch all the drivers and users with Coccinelle. The new `struct i2c_msg` should ease porting drivers from Linux and help to write SMBus compatible controller drivers. Beside integer type changes, the field `read` is replaced with a generic field `flags` and `chip` is renamed to `slave`. Patched with Coccinelle using the clumsy spatch below and some manual changes: * Nested struct initializers and one field access skipped by Coccinelle. * Removed assumption in the code that I2C_M_RD is 1. * In `i2c.h`, changed all occurences of `chip` to `slave`. @@ @@ -struct i2c_seg +struct i2c_msg @@ identifier msg; expression e; @@ ( struct i2c_msg msg = { - .read = 0, + .flags = 0, }; | struct i2c_msg msg = { - .read = 1, + .flags = I2C_M_RD, }; | struct i2c_msg msg = { - .chip = e, + .slave = e, }; ) @@ struct i2c_msg msg; statement S1, S2; @@ ( -if (msg.read) +if (msg.flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 else S2 | -if (msg.read) +if (msg.flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 ) @@ struct i2c_msg *msg; statement S1, S2; @@ ( -if (msg->read) +if (msg->flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 else S2 | -if (msg->read) +if (msg->flags & I2C_M_RD) S1 ) @@ struct i2c_msg msg; expression e; @@ ( -msg.read = 0; +msg.flags = 0; | -msg.read = 1; +msg.flags = I2C_M_RD; | -msg.read = e; +msg.flags = e ? 2017-06-13Consolidate reset API, add generic reset_prepare mechanismJulius Werner
There are many good reasons why we may want to run some sort of generic callback before we're executing a reset. Unfortunateley, that is really hard right now: code that wants to reset simply calls the hard_reset() function (or one of its ill-differentiated cousins) which is directly implemented by a myriad of different mainboards, northbridges, SoCs, etc. More recent x86 SoCs have tried to solve the problem in their own little corner of soc/intel/common, but it's really something that would benefit all of coreboot. This patch expands the concept onto all boards: hard_reset() and friends get implemented in a generic location where they can run hooks before calling the platform-specific implementation that is now called do_hard_reset(). The existing Intel reset_prepare() gets generalized as soc_reset_prepare() (and other hooks for arch, mainboard, etc. can now easily be added later if necessary). We will also use this central point to ensure all platforms flush their cache before reset, which is generally useful for all cases where we're trying to persist information in RAM across reboots (like the new persistent CBMEM console does). Also remove cpu_reset() completely since it's not used anywhere and doesn't seem very useful compared to the others. Also, it is possible to implement this within spi-generic layer by obtaining following parameters from the controller: 1. max_xfer_size: Maximum transfer size supported by the controller (Size of 0 indicates invalid size, and unlimited transfer size is indicated by UINT32_MAX.) 2. deduct_cmd_len: Whether cmd_len needs to be deducted from the max_xfer_size to determine max data size that can be transferred. (This is used by the amd boards.) 2017-03-28vboot: Select SoC-specific configuration for all Chrome OS boardsJulius Werner
Some Chrome OS boards previously didn't have a hardcoded vboot configuration (e.g. STARTS_IN_BOOTBLOCK/_ROMSTAGE, SEPARATE_VERSTAGE, etc.) selected from their SoC and mainboard Kconfig files, and instead relied on the Chrome OS build system to pass in those options separately. Since there is usually only one "best" vboot configuration for a certain board and there is often board or SoC code specifically written with that configuration in mind (e.g. memlayout), these options should not be adjustable in menuconfig and instead always get selected by board and SoC Makefiles (as opposed to some external build system). (Removing MAINBOARD_HAS_CHROMEOS from Urara because vboot support for Pistachio/MIPS was never finished. Trying to enable even post-romstage vboot leads to weird compiler errors that I don't want to track down now. Let's stop pretending this board has working Chrome OS support because it never did.) 2016-11-22spi: Clean up SPI flash driver interfaceFurquan Shaikh
RW flag was added to spi_slave structure to get around a requirement on some AMD flash controllers that need to group together all spi volatile operations (write/erase). This rw flag is not a property or attribute of the SPI slave or controller. Thus, instead of saving it in spi_slave structure, clean up the SPI flash driver interface. This allows chipsets/mainboards (that require volatile operations to be grouped) to indicate beginning and end of such grouped operations. New user APIs are added to allow users to perform probe, read, write, erase, volatile group begin and end operations. Callbacks defined in spi_flash structure are expected to be used only by the SPI flash driver. Any chipset that requires grouping of volatile operations can select the newly added Kconfig option SPI_FLASH_HAS_VOLATILE_GROUP and define callbacks for chipset_volatile_group_{begin,end}. spi_claim_bus/spi_release_bus calls have been removed from the SPI flash chip drivers which end up calling do_spi_flash_cmd since it already has required calls for claiming and releasing SPI bus before performing a read/write operation. 2015-09-22linking: link bootblock.elf with .data and .bss sections againAaron Durbin
Currently coreboot expects the loader to clear the bss section for all stages. i.e. stages don't clear their own bss. On ARM SoCs the BootROM would be responsible for this. To do that one needs to include the bss section data (all zeros) in the bootblock.bin file. This was previously being attempted by keeping the .bss info in the .data section because objcopy happened zero out non-file allocated data section data. Instead go back to linking bootblock with the bss section but mark the bss section as loadable allocatable data. That way it will be included in the binary properly when objcopy -O binary is emplyed. Also do the same for the data section in the case of no non-zero object values are in the data section. Without this change the trick of including .bss in .data was not working when there wasn't a non-zero value object in the data section. BUG=None BRANCH=None TEST=Built emulation/qemu-armv7 and noted bootblock.bin contains the cleared bss. 2015-06-02cbfs: new API and better program loadingAaron Durbin
A new CBFS API is introduced to allow making CBFS access easier for providing multiple CBFS sources. That is achieved by decoupling the cbfs source from a CBFS file. A CBFS source is described by a descriptor. It contains the necessary properties for walking a CBFS to locate a file. The CBFS file is then decoupled from the CBFS descriptor in that it's no longer needed to access the contents of the file. All of this is accomplished using the regions infrastructure by repsenting CBFS sources and files as region_devices. Because region_devices can be chained together forming subregions this allows one to decouple a CBFS source from a file. This also allows one to provide CBFS files that came from other sources for payload and/or stage loading. The program loading takes advantage of those very properties by allowing multiple sources for locating a program. Because of this we can reduce the overhead of loading programs because it's all done in the common code paths. Only locating the program is per source. The boot_device is a region_device that represents the device from which coreboot retrieves and boots its stages. The existing cbfs implementations use the boot_device as the intermediary for accessing the CBFS region. Also, there's currently only support for a read-only view of the boot_device. i.e. one cannot write to the boot_device using this view. However, a writable boot_device could be added in the future. As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons but because there are tools that look for them, and giving them a standard pattern simplifies things. However, we got confirmation that we don't have to update every file ever added to coreboot whenever the FSF gets a new lease, but can drop the address instead. util/kconfig is excluded because that's imported code that we may want to synchronize every now and then. $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin St, Fifth Floor, Boston, *MA[, ]*02110-1301[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin Street, Suite 500, Boston, MA 02110-1335, USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 59 Temple Place[-, ]*Suite 330, Boston, MA *02111-1307[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 675 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA.:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -a \! -name \*.patch \ -a \! -name \*_shipped \ -a \! -name LICENSE_GPL \ -a \! -name LGPL.txt \ -a \! -name COPYING \ -a \! -name DISCLAIMER \ -exec sed -i "/Foundation, Inc./ N;s:Foundation, Inc.* USA\.* *:Foundation, Inc. :;s:Foundation, Inc. $:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + Change-Id: Icc968a5a5f3a5df8d32b940f9cdb35350654bef9 Signed-off-by: Patrick Georgi <pgeorgi@chromium.org> Reviewed-on: http://review.coreboot.org/9233 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) Reviewed-by: Vladimir Serbinenko <phcoder@gmail.com>

2015-04-14timer: Reestablish init_timer(), consolidate timer initialization callsJulius Werner
We have known for a while that the old x86 model of calling init_timer() in ramstage doesn't make sense on other archs (and is questionable in general), and finally removed it with CL:219719. However, now timer initialization is completely buried in the platform code, and it's hard to ensure it is done in time to set up timestamps. For three out of four non-x86 SoC vendors we have brought up for now, the timers need some kind of SoC-specific initialization. This patch reintroduces init_timer() as a weak function that can be overridden by platform code. The call in ramstage is restricted to x86 (and should probably eventually be removed from there as well), and other archs should call them at the earliest reasonable point in their bootblock. (Only changing arm for now since arm64 and mips bootblocks are still in very early state and should sync up to features in arm once their requirements are better understood.) This allows us to move timestamp_init() into arch code, so that we can rely on timestamps being available at a well-defined point and initialize our base value as early as possible. (Platforms who know that their timers start at zero can still safely call timestamp_init(0) again from platform code.) BRANCH=None BUG=None TEST=Booted Pinky, Blaze and Storm, compiled Daisy and Pit.
