This is a Microsoft defined ACPI extension that allows an OS to know what the debug port is on a system when it is not enabled by the firmware, so it does not show up in the coreboot tables and cannot be easily found by a payload. broadwell: Use byte access device, set up only when enabled since it relies on the port being put in byte access mode and using this serial port for debug was not standard in this generation. skylake: Enable for the configured debug port. Skylake uses intelblocks for UART but not ACPI. common: Enable for the configured debug port. This affects apollolake and cannonlake. 2017-10-04chromeec: Remove checks for EC in RODaisuke Nojiri
This patch removes checks that ensure EC to be in RO for recovery boot. We do not need these checks because when recovery is requested automatically (as opposed to manually), we show 'broken' screen where users can only reboot the device or request recovery manually. If recovery is requested, Depthcharge will check whether EC is in RO or not and recovery switch was pressed or not. If it's a legitimate manual recovery, EC should be in RO. Thus, we can trust the recovery button state it reports. This patch removes all calls to google_chromeec_check_ec_image, which is called to avoid duplicate memory training when recovery is requested but EC is in RW. 2017-09-20vboot: reset vbnv in cmos when cmos failure occursAaron Durbin
There's an occasional issue on machines which use CMOS for their vbnv storage. The machine that just powers up from complete G3 would have had their RTC rail not held up. The contents of vbnv in CMOS could pass the crc8 though the values could be bad. In order to fix this introduce two functions: 1. vbnv_init_cmos() 2. vbnv_cmos_failed() At the start of vboot the CMOS is queried for failure. If there is a failure indicated then the vbnv data is restored from flash backup or reset to known values when there is no flash backup. 2017-09-11cpu/x86/mp_init: remove adjust_cpu_apic_entry()Aaron Durbin
The original purpose of adjust_cpu_apic_entry() was to set up an APIC map. That map was effectively only used for mapping *default* APIC id to CPU number in the SMM handler. The normal AP startup path didn't need this mapping because it was whoever won the race got the next cpu number. Instead of statically calculating (and wrong) just initialize the default APIC id map when the APs come online. Once the APs are online the SMM handler is loaded and the mapping is utilized. We've just decided to remove the only known use of the VBSD_SW_WP flag in vboot (https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/575389), since it was unused and never reliable on all platforms anyway. Therefore, we can now also remove the coreboot infrastructure that supported it. It doesn't really hurt anyone, but removing it saves a small bit of effort for future platforms. 2017-06-13Consolidate reset API, add generic reset_prepare mechanismJulius Werner
There are many good reasons why we may want to run some sort of generic callback before we're executing a reset. Unfortunateley, that is really hard right now: code that wants to reset simply calls the hard_reset() function (or one of its ill-differentiated cousins) which is directly implemented by a myriad of different mainboards, northbridges, SoCs, etc. More recent x86 SoCs have tried to solve the problem in their own little corner of soc/intel/common, but it's really something that would benefit all of coreboot. This patch expands the concept onto all boards: hard_reset() and friends get implemented in a generic location where they can run hooks before calling the platform-specific implementation that is now called do_hard_reset(). The existing Intel reset_prepare() gets generalized as soc_reset_prepare() (and other hooks for arch, mainboard, etc. can now easily be added later if necessary). We will also use this central point to ensure all platforms flush their cache before reset, which is generally useful for all cases where we're trying to persist information in RAM across reboots (like the new persistent CBMEM console does). Also remove cpu_reset() completely since it's not used anywhere and doesn't seem very useful compared to the others. The ASPM options (L1 substates, CLKREQ support, Common Clock and ASPM) are hardcoded for broadwell chips, but some boards may not support these ASPM options even if the SoC does support it (non-wired CLKREQ pin for example). This is required to disable L1 substates on the Purism/Librem 13 which seems to have issues with NVMe drives falling into L1.2 state and not being able to exit that state. spi_crop_chunk is a property of the SPI controller since it depends upon the maximum transfer size that is supported by the controller. Also, it is possible to implement this within spi-generic layer by obtaining following parameters from the controller: 1. max_xfer_size: Maximum transfer size supported by the controller (Size of 0 indicates invalid size, and unlimited transfer size is indicated by UINT32_MAX.) 2. deduct_cmd_len: Whether cmd_len needs to be deducted from the max_xfer_size to determine max data size that can be transferred. (This is used by the amd boards.) Some Chrome OS boards previously didn't have a hardcoded vboot configuration (e.g. STARTS_IN_BOOTBLOCK/_ROMSTAGE, SEPARATE_VERSTAGE, etc.) selected from their SoC and mainboard Kconfig files, and instead relied on the Chrome OS build system to pass in those options separately. Since there is usually only one "best" vboot configuration for a certain board and there is often board or SoC code specifically written with that configuration in mind (e.g. memlayout), these options should not be adjustable in menuconfig and instead always get selected by board and SoC Makefiles (as opposed to some external build system). (Removing MAINBOARD_HAS_CHROMEOS from Urara because vboot support for Pistachio/MIPS was never finished. Trying to enable even post-romstage vboot leads to weird compiler errors that I don't want to track down now. Let's stop pretending this board has working Chrome OS support because it never did.) CDClk selection was wrong in some corner cases (e.g. ULX SKUs) and, for Broadwell, never took the devicetree config into account. Rewrite the selection with the following in mind: o cpu_is_ult() might return `true` for ULX SKUs, too, o ULX and Broadwell-ULT SKUs can be `overclocked` with additional cooling, so leave that as devicetree option. For Haswell, the following frequency selections are valid: o ULX: 337.5MHz by default, 450MHz optional o ULT: 450MHz only (maybe 337.5MHz too, documentation varies, it wasn't selectable before either) o others: 540MHz by default, 450MHz optional For Broadwell: o ULX: 450MHz by default, 337.5MHz / 540MHz optional o ULT: 540MHz by default, 337.5MHz / 450MHz / 675MHz optional o others: 667MHz by default, 337.5MHz / 450MHz / 540MHz optional Side effects: A too high setting in the devicetree results in the highest possible frequency now, Haswell non-ULT/ULX defaults to 540MHz instead of 450MHz. 2017-02-22Broadwell/Sata: Add support for setting IOBP registers for Ports 2 and 3.Youness Alaoui
The Broadwell SATA controller supports IOBP registers on ports 0 and 1 but Browell supports up to 4 ports, so we need to support setting IOBP for ports 2 and 3 as well. The magic numbers (IOBP SECRT88 and DTLE) for ports 2 and 3 were only guessed by looking at ports 0 and 1 and extrapolating from there. Port 3 has been tested (DTLE setting on Librem 13) and confirmed to work so we can assume that port 2 and 3 magic numbers are valid, but having someone confirm them (through non-public documents?) would be great. 2017-02-20lynxpoint/broadwell: fix PCH power optimizerMatt DeVillier
Setting both bits 27 and 7 of PCH register PMSYNC_CFG (PMSYNC Configuration; offset 0x33c8) causes pre-OS display init to fail on HSW-U/Lynxpoint and BDW-U ChromeOS devices when the VBIOS/GOP driver is run after the register is set. A re-examination of Intel's reference code reveals that bit 7 should be set for the LP PCH, and bit 27 for non-LP, but not both simultaneously. The previous workaround was to disable the entire power optimizer section via a Kconfig option, which isn't ideal. SPI_ATOMIC_SEQUENCING was added to accomodate spi flash controllers with the ability to perform tx and rx of flash command and response at the same time. Instead of introducing this notion at SPI flash driver layer, clean up the interface to SPI used by flash. Flash uses a command-response kind of communication. Thus, even though SPI is duplex, flash command needs to be sent out on SPI bus and then flash response should be received on the bus. Some specialized x86 flash controllers are capable of handling command and response in a single transaction. In order to support all the varied cases: 1. Add spi_xfer_vector that takes as input a vector of SPI operations and calls back into SPI controller driver to process these operations. 2. In order to accomodate flash command-response model, use two vectors while calling into spi_xfer_vector -- one with dout set to non-NULL(command) and other with din set to non-NULL(response). 3. For specialized SPI flash controllers combine two successive vectors if the transactions look like a command-response pair. 4. Provide helper functions for common cases like supporting only 2 vectors at a time, supporting n vectors at a time, default vector operation to cycle through all SPI op vectors one by one. Without this patch, eDP output is non-functional pre-graphics driver regardless of payload (SeaBIOS, Tianocore) or video init method (VBIOS, GOP driver) and once the standard Windows Intel HD graphics driver is loaded. Test: Boot Windows on peppy and auron_paine, install Intel HD Graphics driver, observe functional eDP output with full video acceleration. Debugging method: adjust location of call to run VBIOS within coreboot, observed that eDP output functional if the VBIOS is run before the power optimizer lines, broken if run afterwards. With RELOCATABLE_RAMSTAGE write-back cache of low ram is only useful for bottom 1MiB of RAM as a small part of this gets used during SMP initialisation before proper MTRR setup. The EHCI debug device setup code was removed from broadwell in commit 49ee5ef: http://review.coreboot.org/11874 However the generic device setup code is in the southbridge/common/intel directory while broadwell is in the soc directory so this is not used. Add it back to the broadwell soc to fix undefined reference compile errors with 'pci_ehci_dbg_dev' and 'pci_ehci_dbg_enable'. This was tested to compile and produce romstage and ramstage output on a google/samus board. root_port_init_config() pcie.c wasn't initializing a variable before passing its pointer to pch_iobp_exec(). pch_iobp_exec() wrote the uninitialized value into a register. In theory, the register would only be used if data was being written, and pch_iobp_exec() was being used to read the data, not write it, so this change shouldn't have any practical effect. 2015-10-23Intel: Move MCRS ResourceTemplate outside of _CRS methodMartin Roth
On Broadwell, this reduces the number of 'remarks' in the IASL build from 222 to 3. Fixes these remarks: Object is not referenced (Name is within method [_CRS]) The ACPI compiler is trying to be helpful in letting us know that we're not using various fields in the MCRS ResourceTemplate when we define it inside of the _CRS method. Since we're not intending to use those objects in the method, it shouldn't be an issue, but the warning is annoying and can mask real issues. Moving the creation of the MCRS object to outside of the CRS method and referencing it from there solves this problem. The broadwell soc code was upstreamed based off an old coreboot branch and apparently never tested with USBDEBUG. This changeset fixes USBDEBUG on the not yet upstreamed Auron-Paine board, as verified with a FT232H setup. The fix is simply removing outdated code that since branching off had been deduplicated in upstream coreboot, anyway. The EM100Pro allows the debug console to be sent over the SPI bus. This is not yet working in romstage due to the use of static variables in the SPI driver code. It is also not working on chipsets that have SPI write buffers of less than 10 characters due to the 9 byte command/header length specified by the EM100 protocol. While this currently works only with the EM100, it seems like it would be useful on any logic analyzer with SPI debug - just filter on command bytes of 0x11.
