Note that bootblock.c originally wrote a reserved bit of the PCIEXBAR register. The `length` bitfield was set to 0, so assume 256 busses. Increase DCACHE_RAM_SIZE to 32kB and remove "NO_CBFS_MCACHE". It’s quite safe to increase DCACHE_RAM_SIZE. All LGA775 targets should have at least 256K L2 cache. That is plenty for XIP RO cache of bootblock + romstage and a 32K CAR. 2020-12-02cbfs: Enable CBFS mcache on most chipsetsJulius Werner
This patch flips the default of CONFIG_NO_CBFS_MCACHE so the feature is enabled by default. Some older chipsets with insufficient SRAM/CAR space still have it explicitly disabled. All others get the new section added to their memlayout... 8K seems like a sane default to start with. 2020-10-02drivers/spi: Add BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES configShelley Chen
Added new config BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES to accomodate older x86 platforms that don't allow writing to SPI flash when early stages are running XIP from flash. If BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES is not selected, BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_RW_NOMMAP_EARLY will get auto-selected if BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_RW_NOMMAP=y. This allows for current platforms that write to flash in the earlier stages, assuming that they have that capability. BUG=b:150502246 BRANCH=None TEST=diff the coreboot.rom files resulting from running ./util/abuild/abuild -p none -t GOOGLE_NAMI -x -a --timeless with and without this change to make sure that there was no difference. Also did this for GOOGLE_CANDY board, which is baytrail based (and has BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES enabled). LGA775 CPUs can have at most 4 threads, and Eaglelake supports them. As this socket is also used by other chipsets, temporarily place this symbol into the northbridge scope until all chipsets are factored out. They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. 2019-08-08lib/stage_cache: Refactor Kconfig optionsKyösti Mälkki
Add explicit CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE option. Rename CACHE_RELOCATED_RAMSTAGE_OUTSIDE_CBMEM to TSEG_STAGE_CACHE. Platforms with SMM_TSEG=y always need to implement stage_cache_external_region(). It is allowed to return with a region of size 0 to effectively disable the cache. There are no provisions in Kconfig to degrade from TSEG_STAGE_CACHE to CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE. As a security measure CBMEM_STAGE_CACHE default is changed to disabled. AGESA platforms without TSEG will experience slower S3 resume speed unless they explicitly select the option. TSEG is not accessible in ring 0 after it is locked in ramstage, in contrast with cbmem which remains accessible. Assuming SMM does not touch the cache this is a good region to cache stages. Tested on Intel DG41WV, the stage cache gets properly created and used on S3 resume. Use parallel MP init code to initialize all AP's. Also remove guards around CPU code where all platforms now use parallel MP init. This also removes the code required on lapic init path for model_6fx, model_1017x and model_f4x as all platforms now use the parallel MP code. Tested on Intel DG41WV, shaves off about 90ms on a quad core. 2018-12-03nb/intel/x4x: Use common code for SMM in TSEGArthur Heymans
This also caches the TSEG region and therefore increases MTRR usage a little in some cases. Currently SMRR msr's are not set on model_1067x and model_6fx since this needs the MSRR enable bit and lock set in IA32_FEATURE_CONTROL. This will be handled properly in the subsequent parallel mp init patchset. Tested on Intel DG41WV, resume from S3 still works fine. Libgfxinit provides a better alternative to the native C init. While libgfxinit mandates an ada compiler, we want to encourage use of it since it is in much better shape and is actually maintained. 2018-04-17nb/intel/x4x: Use SPI flash to cache raminit resultsArthur Heymans
Stores information obtained from decoding dimms and receive enable results for future use. Depreciates using rtc nvram to store receive enable settings. A notable change is that receive enable results are always reused, not just on a resume from S3. This requires cbmem to be initialized a bit earlier, right after the raminit finished to be able to add the sysinfo struct to cbmem which gets cached to the SPI flash in ramstage. TESTED on Intel DG43GT with W25Q128.V. With 4 ddr2 dimms time in raminit goes from 133,857ms (using i2c block read to fetch SPD) to 21,071ms for cached results. The x4x northbridge can be paired with either an ICH7 (in the case of g41) or an ICH10 (all other cases: g45, q45, p45, ...). Only ICH10 sometimes occurs with a descriptor, gbe and an ME region. ICH7 is always descriptorless so it makes no sense to fix CBFS to accommodate for those other objects. Instead of having the list of exceptions to the size, just set the defaults at the end of kconfig. - Move the defaults for chipsets not setting HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE into the chipset Kconfigs (gm45, nehalem, sandybridge, x4x) - Override the default for HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE on skylake. - Move the HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE default setting into the firmware Kconfig file - Move the location of the default CBFS_SIZE=ROM_SIZE to the end of the top level kconfig file, while leaving the question where it is. Test=rebuild Kconfig files before and after the change, verify that they are how they were intended to be. Note: the Skylake boards actually changed value, because they were picking up the 0x100000 from HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE instead of the 0x200000 desired. This was due to the SOC_INTEL_SKYLAKE being after the HAVE_INTEL_FIRMWARE default. Affected boards were: Google chell, glados, & lars and Intel kunimitsu. 2016-01-29nb/intel/x4x: Move to early cbmemDamien Zammit
Previously with errors in the ram init, early cbmem was disabled. Now that the ram is working correctly, set as early cbmem platform and update all (1) boards to use it.
