2015-01-06mainboard: Drop print_ implementation from non-romcc boardsStefan Reinauer
Because we had no stack on romcc boards, we had a separate, not as powerful clone of printk: print_*. Back in the day, like more than half a decade ago, we migrated a lot of boards to printk, but we never cleaned up the existing code to be consistent. instead, we worked around the problem with a very messy console.h (nowadays the mess is hidden in romstage_console.c and early_print.h) This patch cleans up the mainboard code to use printk() on all non-ROMCC boards. Fix system include paths to be consistent. Chipset support is part of the Coreboot 'system' and hence 'non-local' (i.e., in the same directory or context). One possible product of this, is to perhaps allow future work to do pre-compiled headers (PCH) on the buildbot for faster build times. However, this currently just makes mainboard's consistent. Here's the great news: From now on you don't have to worry about hitting the right io.h include anymore. Just forget about romcc_io.h and use io.h instead. This cleanup has a number of advantages, like you don't have to guard device/ includes for SMM and pre RAM anymore. This allows to get rid of a number of ifdefs and will generally make the code more readable and understandable. Potentially in the future some of the code in the io.h __PRE_RAM__ path should move to device.h or other device/ includes instead, but that's another incremental change. 2011-10-03TINY_BOOTBLOCK problem-fix on amdk8+amd8111 platformsenok71
The hp/dl145_g1 motherboard did not work since commit 1f7d3c5672ec90f8d71907b1a07c8a87fa461047 (svn 6124). That commit added TINY_BOOTBLOCK for amd8111 southbridge. The result was that the boot process stopped very early (no console output whatsoever). The same symptom was reported on other AMDK8 based boards with amd8111 southbridge chips. This commit seems to fix the bug. It adds a bootblock.c under src/northbridge/amd/amdk8 that calls enumerate_ht_chains. Probably the problem was that enum_ht_chains needs to be called before the southbridge bootblock.c function, not after. the prefix was introduced in the early v2 tree many years ago because our old build system "newconfig" could not handle two files with the same name in different paths like /path/to/usb.c and /another/path/to/usb.c correctly. Only one of the files would end up being compiled into the final image. Since Kconfig (actually since shortly before we switched to Kconfig) we don't suffer from that problem anymore. While debugging this, I removed an indirection from the e7520 ram init code (same as we did on a couple of other chipsets, removes some register pressure from romcc) Also, drop remainders of CONFIG_USE_INIT (except the one odd piece of dead code in cache_as_ram.inc) Then some ap_romstage.c fixes, at least the nvidia/l1_2pvv compiled for me with CONFIG_AP_CODE_IN_CAR set in Kconfig which it did not before.
