2020-05-02acpi: Move ACPI table support out of arch/x86 (3/5)Furquan Shaikh
This change moves all ACPI table support in coreboot currently living under arch/x86 into common code to make it architecture independent. ACPI table generation is not really tied to any architecture and hence it makes sense to move this to its own directory. In order to make it easier to review, this change is being split into multiple CLs. These two identifiers were always very confusing. We're not filling and injecting generators. We are filling SSDTs and injecting into the DSDT. So drop the `_generator` suffix. Hopefully, this also makes ACPI look a little less scary. They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. 2016-12-11intel/i945: Use romstage_handoff for S3Kyösti Mälkki
Don't use scratchpad registers when we have romstage_handoff to pass S3 resume flag. Scratchpad register was read too late in ramstage so acpi_is_wakeup_s3() did not evaluate correctly. This fixes low memory corruption at 0x1000-0x102c and the lack of coreboot tables (util/cbmem not working) after S3 resume. This also fixes console log from reporting early in ramstage "Normal boot" while on "S3 resume" path. Requesting low power acpi cpu c-states has two software interfaces: Using P_LVLx I/O reads or using equivalent MWAIT requests. This change makes it more consistent with newer targets that use MWAIT requests. There also exists extended intel acpi c-states which can be enabled in two ways: - using a substate hint to the mwait request (defined in bios); - setting a model specific register (msr) Currently this is done by setting the right msr bits but with this change one can experiment by adding substate hints. The Linux thinkpad_acpi.c driver looks for this string while reading information about the system it is running on. This commit does not make the module load but it is one of several things that the module looks for on a ThinkPad. The use of 3 defines for the serial number template seems odd but it's done in a way that eliminates magic numbers, yet avoids use of strcpy, strlen, strindex, strchr, or strspan: we can have some correctness assured at compile time. Also, the defines can be copy/pasted for other mainboards and we should void errors due to people not changing magic numbers. mainboard_enable() is now modelled after google/parrot where the enable function only sets dev->ops->init for the root device to point to a mainboard_init() function, which in turn is called in a later pass over the device tree to do the actual initialization.
