2023-03-08mb/lenovo: Enable VBOOT_VBNV_FLASHYu-Ping Wu
To deprecate VBOOT_VBNV_CMOS [1], replace VBOOT_VBNV_CMOS with VBOOT_VBNV_FLASH for lenovo boards: t400, t410, t420, t420s, t430, t430s, t520, t530, x131e, x1_carbon_gen1, x60, x200, x201, x220, x230. A 0x2000 RW_NVRAM region is allocated for them, with the COREBOOT size reduced by 0x2000. Also remove the VBOOT_VBNV_OFFSET config, since it's only used for VBOOT_VBNV_CMOS. 2021-10-15mainboard: Drop invalid `VGA_BIOS_FILE` defaultsAngel Pons
If the VGA BIOS file path for `VGA_BIOS_FILE` in a mainboard's Kconfig does not exist in the coreboot tree (including submodules), drop it. These files should be stored in the `site-local` subdirectory and the paths specified for each board in `site-local/Kconfig`. For example: config VGA_BIOS_FILE default "site-local/x200_vbios.bin" if BOARD_LENOVO_X200 Note that this is just an example. There are better ways to structure one's `site-local` subfolder. Using the `CONFIG_MAINBOARD_DIR` option would be one of them, though variants may still need special handling. Also, update autoport to not generate `VGA_BIOS_FILE` defaults. 2020-06-19Kconfig: Escape variable to accommodate new Kconfig versionsPatrick Georgi
Kconfig 4.17 started using the $(..) syntax for environment variable expansion while we want to keep expansion to the build system. Older Kconfig versions (like ours) simply drop the escapes, not changing the behavior. While we could let Kconfig expand some of the variables, that only splits the handling in two places, making debugging harder and potentially messing with reproducible builds (e.g. when paths end up in configs), so escape them all. The Kconfigs GFX_GMA_PANEL_1_PORT and GFX_GMA_PANEL_2_PORT can now be set to any port, e.g. config GFX_GMA_PANEL_1_PORT default "DP3" Now that the panel logic is not tied to the `Internal` port choice anymore, we can properly split it into `LVDS` and `eDP`. There are two known reverse-engineered ways to manage battery thresholds. This patch implements them and adds a way to enable them for different mainboards. Tested on W530 with 4.18.3-gentoo kernel and X220 with 4.20.11. Works fine with new Linux userspace API for controlling battery thresholds, available since 4.17. (/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_(start|stop)_threshold). The new API is supported by TLP (you might need to set NATACPI_ENABLE=1 in /etc/tlp.conf). tpacpi-bat works fine too. 2018-08-05southbridge/intel/bd82x6x/Kconfig: Do not include any IFD by defaultAngel Pons
Since only a handful of boards have descriptor blobs in the tree, it makes no sense to have `HAVE_IFD_BIN` enabled by default then disabled on each mainboard. This patch flips the default value of said variable, rendering all current overrides unnecessary. The few boards which have an IFD in the blobs repo use `select HAVE_IFD_BIN` to enable adding the IFD by default. Since `HAVE_ME_BIN` depends on `HAVE_IFD_BIN`, the former has been removed alongside the latter, and has been added to the boards with a ME blob as `select HAVE_ME_BIN`. Both `HAVE_IFD_BIN` and `HAVE_ME_BIN` have been removed from autoport as well. Sandy and Ivy Bridge processors use the same socket, and a mainboard with the socket can support both types of CPUs. 2015-10-03sandybridge ivybridge: Treat native init as first class citizenAlexandru Gagniuc
This is a sad story. We have three different code paths for sandybridge and ivybridge: proper native path, google MRC path, and, everyone's favorite: Intel FSP path. For the purpose of this patch, the FSP path lives in its own little world, and doesn't concern us. Since MRC was first, when native files and variables were added, they were suffixed with "_native" to separate them from the existing code. This can cause confusion, as the suffix might make the native files seem parasitical. This has been bothering me for many months. MRC should be the parasitical path, especially since we fully support native init, and it works more reliably, on a wider range of hardware. There have been a few board ports that never made it to coreboot.org because MRC would hang. gigabyte/ga-b75m-d3h is a prime example: it did not work with MRC, so the effort was abandoned at first. Once the native path became available, the effort was restarted and the board is now supported. In honor of the hackers and pioneers who made the native code possible, rename things so that their effort is the first class citizen.
