2020-05-02acpi: Move ACPI table support out of arch/x86 (3/5)Furquan Shaikh
This change moves all ACPI table support in coreboot currently living under arch/x86 into common code to make it architecture independent. ACPI table generation is not really tied to any architecture and hence it makes sense to move this to its own directory. In order to make it easier to review, this change is being split into multiple CLs. They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. It encourages users from writing to the FSF without giving an address. Linux also prefers to drop that and their checkpatch.pl (that we imported) looks out for that. As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons but because there are tools that look for them, and giving them a standard pattern simplifies things. Dumping the ACPI tables in this way has limited use, is not likely to be used and is poorly implemented. There are much more sophisticated tools available on Linux for debugging ACPI as such this code is outside the scope of coreboots 'bring up the hardware only' philosophy. A more generic implemention could be done with hexdump() in coreboot proper following on from this cleanup.
