2020-12-17drivers: Replace set_vbe_mode_info_validPatrick Rudolph
Currently it's not possible to add multiple graphics driver into one coreboot image. This patch series will fix this issue by providing a single API that multiple graphics driver can use. This is required for platforms that have two graphic cards, but different graphic drivers, like Intel+Aspeed on server platforms or Intel+Nvidia on consumer notebooks. The goal is to remove duplicated fill_fb_framebuffer(), the advertisment of multiple indepent framebuffers in coreboot tables, and better runtime/build time graphic configuration options. Replace set_vbe_mode_info_valid with fb_add_framebuffer_info or fb_new_framebuffer_info_from_edid. 2020-12-02cbfs: Enable CBFS mcache on most chipsetsJulius Werner
This patch flips the default of CONFIG_NO_CBFS_MCACHE so the feature is enabled by default. Some older chipsets with insufficient SRAM/CAR space still have it explicitly disabled. All others get the new section added to their memlayout... 8K seems like a sane default to start with. 2020-08-03mb/emulation/qemu-armv7: Fix boardPatrick Rudolph
Fix multiple issues allowing to boot until "Payload not loaded": * The FMAP_CACHE was placed in memory mapped flash - Place the FMAP_CACHE in DRAM. * The FMAP_CACHE was overlapping the BOOTBLOCK, which has a default size of 128KiB. - Increase the bootblock size in memlayout to 128KiB to match the FMAP. * The heap in bootblock wasn't usable. - Add a linking check in armv7 common bootblock to relocate itself to the linked address. * A FIT payload couldn't be compiled in as the POSTRAM_CBFS_CACHE was missing. - Add the POSTRAM_CBFS_CACHE to memlayout. * The coreboot log is spammed with missing timestamp table error messages - Add TIMESTAMP table to memlayout. Tested on QEMU armv7 vexpress. 2020-06-13treewide: Add Kconfig variable MEMLAYOUT_LD_FILEFurquan Shaikh
This change defines a Kconfig variable MEMLAYOUT_LD_FILE which allows SoC/mainboard to provide a linker file for the platform. x86 already provides a default memlayout.ld under src/arch/x86. With this new Kconfig variable, it is possible for the SoC/mainboard code for x86 to provide a custom linker file as well. Makefile.inc is updated for all architectures to use this new Kconfig variable instead of assuming memlayout.ld files under a certain path. All non-x86 boards used memlayout.ld under mainboard directory. However, a lot of these boards were simply including the memlayout from SoC. So, this change also updates these mainboards and SoCs to define the Kconfig as required. BUG=b:155322763 TEST=Verified that abuild with --timeless option results in the same coreboot.rom image for all boards. They're listed in AUTHORS and often incorrect anyway, for example: - What's a "Copyright $year-present"? - Which incarnation of Google (Inc, LLC, ...) is the current copyright holder? - People sometimes have their editor auto-add themselves to files even though they only deleted stuff - Or they let the editor automatically update the copyright year, because why not? - Who is the copyright holder "The coreboot project Authors"? - Or "Generated Code"? Sidestep all these issues by simply not putting these notices in individual files, let's list all copyright holders in AUTHORS instead and use the git history to deal with the rest. 2018-04-30cubieboard/qemu-armv7/am335x: Add fake TTB region for consistencyJulius Werner
All ARM architecture boards are supposed to have a TTB region for their page tables. ARM systems cannot use the data cache without enabling paging, so it is imperative to do that as soon as possible. They will also fault on unaligned accesses when not using the cache, which breaks assumptions in CBFS code. Unfortunately, we have some old boards in various stages of disrepair in the tree that don't always follow these sorts of standard conventions. It's not clear whether they actually boot anymore and if anyone still has the respective hardware available to maintain them. I cannot really fix and test them right now, but we should at least create a fake TTB section for them so that common architecture code may make the correct assumptions about which regions exist. Almost all boards and chipsets within the codebase assume or use SPI flash as the boot device. Therefore, provide an option for the boards/chipsets which don't currently support SPI flash as the boot device. The default is to assume SPI flash is the boot device unless otherwise instructed. This falls in line with the current assumptions, but it also allows one to differentiate a platform desiring SPI flash support while it not being the actual boot device. One thing to note is that while google/daisy does boot with SPI flash part no SPI API interfaces were ever implemented. Therefore, mark that board as not having a SPI boot device. 2015-06-02cbfs: new API and better program loadingAaron Durbin
A new CBFS API is introduced to allow making CBFS access easier for providing multiple CBFS sources. That is achieved by decoupling the cbfs source from a CBFS file. A CBFS source is described by a descriptor. It contains the necessary properties for walking a CBFS to locate a file. The CBFS file is then decoupled from the CBFS descriptor in that it's no longer needed to access the contents of the file. All of this is accomplished using the regions infrastructure by repsenting CBFS sources and files as region_devices. Because region_devices can be chained together forming subregions this allows one to decouple a CBFS source from a file. This also allows one to provide CBFS files that came from other sources for payload and/or stage loading. The program loading takes advantage of those very properties by allowing multiple sources for locating a program. Because of this we can reduce the overhead of loading programs because it's all done in the common code paths. Only locating the program is per source. The existing cbfs implementations use the boot_device as the intermediary for accessing the CBFS region. 2015-05-21Remove address from GPLv2 headersPatrick Georgi
As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons but because there are tools that look for them, and giving them a standard pattern simplifies things. However, we got confirmation that we don't have to update every file ever added to coreboot whenever the FSF gets a new lease, but can drop the address instead. util/kconfig is excluded because that's imported code that we may want to synchronize every now and then. $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin St, Fifth Floor, Boston, *MA[, ]*02110-1301[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin Street, Suite 500, Boston, MA 02110-1335, USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 59 Temple Place[-, ]*Suite 330, Boston, MA *02111-1307[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 675 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA.:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -a \! -name \*.patch \ -a \! -name \*_shipped \ -a \! -name LICENSE_GPL \ -a \! -name LGPL.txt \ -a \! -name COPYING \ -a \! -name DISCLAIMER \ -exec sed -i "/Foundation, Inc./ N;s:Foundation, Inc.* USA\.* *:Foundation, Inc. :;s:Foundation, Inc. $:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + Change-Id: Icc968a5a5f3a5df8d32b940f9cdb35350654bef9 Signed-off-by: Patrick Georgi <pgeorgi@chromium.org> Reviewed-on: http://review.coreboot.org/9233 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) Reviewed-by: Vladimir Serbinenko <phcoder@gmail.com>

2015-04-14CBFS: Automate ROM image layout and remove hardcoded offsetsJulius Werner
Non-x86 boards currently need to hardcode the position of their CBFS master header in a Kconfig. This is very brittle because it is usually put in between the bootblock and the first CBFS entry, without any checks to guarantee that it won't overlap either of those. It is not fun to debug random failures that move and disappear with tiny alignment changes because someone decided to write "ORBC1112" over some part of your data section (in a way that is not visible in the symbolized .elf binaries, only in the final image). This patch seeks to prevent those issues and reduce the need for manual configuration by making the image layout a completely automated part of cbfstool. Since automated placement of the CBFS header means we can no longer hardcode its position into coreboot, this patch takes the existing x86 solution of placing a pointer to the header at the very end of the CBFS-managed section of the ROM and generalizes it to all architectures. This is now even possible with the read-only/read-write split in ChromeOS, since coreboot knows how large that section is from the CBFS_SIZE Kconfig (which is by default equal to ROM_SIZE, but can be changed on systems that place other data next to coreboot/CBFS in ROM). Also adds a feature to cbfstool that makes the -B (bootblock file name) argument on image creation optional, since we have recently found valid use cases for CBFS images that are not the first boot medium of the device (instead opened by an earlier bootloader that can already interpret CBFS) and therefore don't really need a bootblock. 2015-04-06New mechanism to define SRAM/memory map with automatic bounds checkingJulius Werner
This patch creates a new mechanism to define the static memory layout (primarily in SRAM) for a given board, superseding the brittle mass of Kconfigs that we were using before. The core part is a memlayout.ld file in the mainboard directory (although boards are expected to just include the SoC default in most cases), which is the primary linker script for all stages (though not rmodules for now). It uses preprocessor macros from <memlayout.h> to form a different valid linker script for all stages while looking like a declarative, boilerplate-free map of memory addresses to the programmer. Linker asserts will automatically guarantee that the defined regions cannot overlap. Stages are defined with a maximum size that will be enforced by the linker. The file serves to both define and document the memory layout, so that the documentation cannot go missing or out of date. The mechanism is implemented for all boards in the ARM, ARM64 and MIPS architectures, and should be extended onto all systems using SRAM in the future. The CAR/XIP environment on x86 has very different requirements and the layout is generally not as static, so it will stay like it is and be unaffected by this patch (save for aligning some symbol names for consistency and sharing the new common ramstage linker script include). BUG=None TEST=Booted normally and in recovery mode, checked suspend/resume and the CBMEM console on Falco, Blaze (both normal and vboot2), Pinky and Pit. 2014-08-14ARMv7/Exynos: Fix memory location assumptionsStefan Reinauer
This patch cleans out a lot of unused variables in the ARM Kconfig files and introduces CONFIG_RAMSTAGE_BASE which is similar to CONFIG_RAMBASE on x86. This gets rid of the hard coded assumption that on ARM coreboot is always executed at the lowest DRAM address. But in fact, this might not be true because we might want coreboot to live at the end of RAM, or in SRAM Change-Id: I03e992645f9eb730e39a521aa21f702959311f74 Signed-off-by: Stefan Reinauer <reinauer@google.com> Reviewed-on: https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/168645 Reviewed-by: David Hendrix <dhendrix@chromium.org> Tested-by: David Hendrix <dhendrix@chromium.org> (cherry picked from commit 15b87892eb2d5e27759c49dc6c8c7e626f651d77) Signed-off-by: Isaac Christensen <isaac.christensen@se-eng.com> Reviewed-on: http://review.coreboot.org/6634 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) Reviewed-by: Patrick Georgi <patrick@georgi-clan.de> Reviewed-by: Paul Menzel <paulepanter@users.sourceforge.net>

It might be that you want an early console in romstage before RAM is up, but you can't or don't want to support the console all the way back in the bootblock. By making the console in those two different environments configurable seperately that becomes possible. On the 5250 console output as early as the bootblock works, but on the 5420 it only starts working in the ROM stage after clocks have been initialized.
