After the RTC coin cell has been replaced, the Update Cycle Inhibit bit must see at least one low transition to ensure the RTC counts. The reset value for this bit is undefined. Examples have been observed where batteries are installed on a manufacturing line, the bit's state comes up low, but the RTC does not count. On reads, ensure the UIP bit is clear which guarantees a minimum of 244 microseconds exists before the update begins. Writes already avoid the problem by disabling the RTC count via the SET bit. 2016-10-02Kconfig: Update default hex values to start with 0xMartin Roth
Kconfig hex values don't need to be in quotes, and should start with '0x'. If the default value isn't set this way, Kconfig will add the 0x to the start, and the entry can be added unnecessarily to the defconfig since it's "different" than what was set by the default. A check for this has been added to the Kconfig lint tool. 2016-02-01drivers/pc80: Add PS/2 mouse presence detectTimothy Pearson
On certain Winbond SuperIO devices, when a PS/2 mouse is not present on the auxiliary channel both channels will cease to function if the auxiliary channel is probed while the primary channel is active. Therefore, knowledge of mouse presence must be gathered by coreboot during early boot, and used to enable or disable the auxiliary PS/2 port before control is passed to the operating system. Add auxiliary channel PS/2 device presence detect, and update the Winbond W83667HG-A driver to flag the auxiliary channel as disabled if no device was detected. When enabling the IOMMU on certain systems dmesg is spammed with I/O page faults like the following: AMD-Vi: Event logged [IO_PAGE_FAULT device=00:14.0 domain=0x000a address=0x000000fdf9103300 flags=0x0030] Decoding the faulting address: 0x000000fdf9103300 fdf91x Hypertransport system management region 33 SysMgtCmd (System Management Command) = 0x33 3 Base Command Type = 0x3: STPCLK (Stop Clock request) 3 SMAF (System Management Action Field) = [3:1] = 0x1 1 Signal State Bit Map = [0] = 0x1 Therefore, the error appears to be triggered by an upstream C1E request. This was eventually traced to concurrent access to the SP5100's SPI Flash controller by multiple APs during startup. Calls to the nvram read functions get_option and read_option call CBFS functions, which in turn make near-simultaneous requests to the SPI Flash controller, thus placing the SP5100 in an invalid state. This limitation is not documented in any public AMD errata, and was only discovered through considerable debugging effort. 2015-11-03drivers/pc80: Rework normal / fallback selector codeTimothy Pearson
Per IRC and Gerrit discussion, the normal / fallback selector code is a rather weak spot in coreboot, and did not function correctly for certain use cases. Rework the selector to more clearly indicate proper operation, and also remove dead code. Also tentatively abandon use of RTC bit 385; a follow-up patch will remove said bit from all affected mainboards. The correct operation of the fallback code selector approximates that of a power line recloser, with a user option to attempt normal boot that can be cleared by firmware, but never set by firmware. Additionally, if cleared by user, the fallback path should always be used on the next reboot. With SPI TPMs there is no SERIRQ for interrupts, instead it is a PIRQ based interrupt. The TCG PC Client Platform TPM Profile Specification says it must be active low and shared. This can be enabled with the CONFIG_TPM_PIRQ option that will specify the interrupt vector to report for the TPM. 2015-10-14x86: add standalone verstage supportAaron Durbin
To support x86 verstage one needs a working buffer for vboot. That buffer resides in the cache-as-ram region which persists across verstage and romstage. The current assumption is that verstage brings cache-as-ram up and romstage tears cache-as-ram down. The timestamp, cbmem console, and the vboot work buffer are persistent through in both romstage and verstage. The vboot work buffer as well as the cbmem console are permanently destroyed once cache-as-ram is torn down. The timestamp region is migrated. When verstage is enabled the assumption is that _start is the romstage entry point. It's currently expected that the chipset provides the entry point to romstage when verstage is employed. Also, the car_var_*() APIs use direct access when in verstage since its expected verstage does not tear down cache-as-ram. 2015-06-02cbfs: new API and better program loadingAaron Durbin
A new CBFS API is introduced to allow making CBFS access easier for providing multiple CBFS sources. That is achieved by decoupling the cbfs source from a CBFS file. A CBFS source is described by a descriptor. It contains the necessary properties for walking a CBFS to locate a file. The CBFS file is then decoupled from the CBFS descriptor in that it's no longer needed to access the contents of the file. All of this is accomplished using the regions infrastructure by repsenting CBFS sources and files as region_devices. Because region_devices can be chained together forming subregions this allows one to decouple a CBFS source from a file. This also allows one to provide CBFS files that came from other sources for payload and/or stage loading. The program loading takes advantage of those very properties by allowing multiple sources for locating a program. Because of this we can reduce the overhead of loading programs because it's all done in the common code paths. Only locating the program is per source. 2015-04-10tpm: Add ramstage driver and interrupt configurationDuncan Laurie
This adds a ramstage driver for the TPM and allows the interrupt to be configured in devicetree.cb. The interrupt vector is set like other PNP devices, and the interrupt polarity is set with a register configuration variable. These values are written into locality 0 TPM_INT_VECTOR and TPM_INT_ENABLE and then all interrupts are disabled so they are not used in firmware but can be enabled by the OS. It also adds an ACPI device for the TPM which will configure the reported interrupt based on what has been written into the TPM during ramstage. The _STA method returns enabled if CONFIG_LPC_TPM is enabled, and the _CRS method will only report an interrupt if one has been set in the TPM itself. The TPM memory address is added by the driver and declared in the ACPI code. In order to access it in ACPI a Kconfig entry is added for the default TPM TIS 1.2 base address. Note that IO address 0x2e is required to be declared in ACPI for the kernel driver to probe correctly. 2014-12-30rtc: Add an RTC API, and implement it for x86.Marc Jones
This CL adds an API for RTC drivers, and implements its two functions, rtc_get and rtc_set, for x86's RTC. The function which resets the clock when the CMOS as lost state now uses the RTC driver instead of accessing the those registers directly. 2014-10-22cmos: Rename the CMOS related functions.Gabe Black
Most of the code related to the mc146818 is not related to the RTC and is really for managing the CMOS storage. Since we intend to add a generic API for RTC drivers it's inconvenient for those functions to have an rtc_ prefix. This CL renames those functions so they start with cmos_ instead. There are some places where rtc_init was called with a comment that says something about starting the RTC. That wasn't correct before (the RTC is always running), but it looks a little odd now that the function is called cmos_init. This CL also opportunistically cleans up some style problems in this file. I assume from the code in the TPM driver that the TPM spec defines different types of delays and timeouts which each have a particular duration, and that the TPM can tell you how long each type is if you ask it. There was a large table, some members of a data structure, and a function or two which managed the timeouts and figured their value for different operations. The timeout values for the various "ordinals" were never set in the vendor specific data structure, however, and always defaulted to 2 minutes. Similarly the timeouts a, b, c, and d were never overridden from their defaults. This change gets rid of all the timeout management code and makes the "ordinal" timeout 2 minutes and the a, b, c, and d timeouts 2 seconds, the larger of the two default values. An issue was observed using a specific vendor's TPM in that it chokes on access to registers that are not explicitly defined in the PC client specification. The previous driver used generic access functions for reading and writing registers. However, issues come to play when reading from the status register. It read it as a 32-bit value, but that read address 0x1b which is not defined in the spec. Instead of using generic access functions for the tpm registers provide explicit ones. To that end provide more high level wrapper functions to perform the semantic access required. When we go through the resume path, there shouldn't ever be a need to initialize the PS/2 keyboard. The OS is going to reinitialize it anyway, and it just slows the resume. Verified Code flow in normal boot/S3 resume with print statements. Verified Keyboard was correctly disabled and flushed by booting to recovery mode screen while pressing keys on the integrated keyboard. 2013-11-25RTC: Skip rtc_init() in S3 resume pathStefan Reinauer
In addition to not clearing the pending interrupts, we also don't want to reset the RTC control register when booting with an S3 resume. On most new systems, when the RTC well is losing power, we will also lose state that is required to perform a resume, so we end up in a normal boot anyways. Hence don't do any RTC initialization in the S3 resume path. Summary: Isolate CBFS underlying I/O to board/arch-specific implementations as "media stream", to allow loading and booting romstage on non-x86. CBFS functions now all take a new "media source" parameter; use CBFS_DEFAULT_MEDIA if you simply want to load from main firmware. API Changes: cbfs_find => cbfs_get_file. cbfs_find_file => cbfs_get_file_content. cbfs_get_file => cbfs_get_file_content with correct type. CBFS used to work only on memory-mapped ROM (all x86). For platforms like ARM, the ROM may come from USB, UART, or SPI -- any serial devices and not available for memory mapping. To support these devices (and allowing CBFS to read from multiple source at the same time), CBFS operations are now virtual-ized into "cbfs_media". To simplify porting existing code, every media source must support both "reading into pre-allocated memory (read)" and "read and return an allocated buffer (map)". For devices without native memory-mapped ROM, "cbfs_simple_buffer*" provides simple memory mapping simulation. Every CBFS function now takes a cbfs_media* as parameter. CBFS_DEFAULT_MEDIA is defined for CBFS functions to automatically initialize a per-board default media (CBFS will internally calls init_default_cbfs_media). Also revised CBFS function names relying on memory mapped backend (ex, "cbfs_find" => actually loads files). The range of weekday in CMOS is 01-07, while the Sunday is 1, and Saturday is 7. The comand date in coreutils defines %u day of week (1..7); 1 is Monday %w day of week (0..6); 0 is Sunday There are 1 day offset for each week day. So we use "%w" and plus 1 before we update the weekday in CMOS.
