2018-08-30drivers/intel/gma: store uint8_t brightness values in mailbox3Alexander Couzens
The _BCM function requires a percentage value. While the brightness in mailbox3 requires a value in uint8_t. Meaning 255 = 100%. Previous implementation stored the percentage brightness value resulting in limiting the brightness to ~40% of it's maximum power. Only affects brightness control using mailbox3. 2018-05-09drivers/intel/gma, soc/intel/common: improve cooperationPatrick Georgi
Instead of both featuring their own VBT loaders, use a single one. It's the compression-enabled one from soc/intel/common, but moved to drivers/intel/gma. The rationale (besides making all the Kconfig fluff easier) is that drivers/intel/gma is used in some capacity on all platforms that load a VBT, while soc/intel/common's VBT code is for use with FSP. 2017-10-283rdparty/lib{hwbase,gfxinit}: Update to latest masterNico Huber
Simplifies our C interface function gma_gfxinit(), due to the following changes: * *libgfxinit* knows about the underlying PCI device now and can probe MMIO addresses by itself. * The framebuffer mapping is now completely handled inside the library where we validate that we neither overflow - the stolen memory, - the GTT address space, the GTT itself nor - the aperture window (i.e. resource2 of the PCI device) that we use to access the framebuffer. Other changes: * Fixes and a quirk for DP training. * Fix for DP-VGA adapters that report an analog display in EDID. * Fixes for Skylake support with coreboot. * DDI Buffer drive-strength configuration for Haswell, Broadwell and Skylake. * `gfx_test` can now be run from X windows (with glitches). * Compatibility with GCC 7 and SPARK GPL 2017. 2017-10-23drv/intel/gma/opregion: fix opregion version for WindowsMatt DeVillier
Although Intel's current spec[1] shows the OpRegion structure version as being the top 16 bits of the field, Intel's Windows drivers require the OpRegion structure version to be in the top 8 bits of the field when not using a VGA BIOS (eg, NGI or GOP driver). As the Linux i915 driver only checks that the version is >= 2, there is no change in functionality there. This change effectively matches Intel's implementation in TianoCore, where the version is set to 0x0200 << 16. For some reason the "interface" for adding framebuffer information is sitting in src/include/vbe.h while also guarding the call to fill_lb_framebuffer() with vbe_mode_info_valid() along with some macro if CONFIG_* for good measure. Move the fill_lb_framebuffer() declaration to coreboot_tables.h and provide a comment about how it should be used. Also, now that there's no need for the notion of a global vbe_mode_info_valid() remove it from the conditional call path of fill_lb_framebuffer(). Some renamings force us to update our code: * Scan_Ports() moved into a new package Display_Probing. * Ports Digital[123] are called HDMI[123] now (finally!). * `Configs_Type` became `Pipe_Configs`, `Config_Index` `Pipe_Index`. Other noteworthy changes in libgfxinit: * libgfxinit now knows about ports that share pins (e.g. HDMI1 and DP1) and refuses to enable any of them if both are connected (which is physically possible on certain ThinkPad docks). * Major refactoring of the high-level GMA code. 2017-03-18nb/i945/gma.c: Refactor panel setupArthur Heymans
This reuses some of gm45 code to set up the panel. Panel start and stop delays and pwm frequency can now be set in devicetree. Linux does not make the difference between 945gm and gm45 for panel delays, so it is safe to assume the semantics of those registers are the same. The core display clock is computed according to "Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family" Datasheet. This selects Legacy backlight mode since most targets have some smm code that rely on this. This sets the same backlight frequency as vendor bios on Thinkpad X60 and T60. A default of 180Hz is selected for the PWM frequency if it is not defined in the devicetree, this might be annoying for displays that are LED backlit, but is a safe value for CCFL backlit displays. The selection of the SSC reference frequency for LVDS was based on a completely unrelated clock. The `ssc_freq` flag should be set when the SSC reference runs at a different frequency than the general display reference clock (DREF). For most platforms, there is no choice, i.e. for i945 and gm45 the SSC reference always differs from the display reference clock (i945: 66Mhz SSC vs. 48MHz DREF; gm45: 100MHz SSC vs. 96Mhz DREF), for Nehalem and newer, it's the same frequency for SSC/non-SSC (120MHz). The only, currently supported platform with a choice seems to be Pineview, where the alternative is 100MHz vs. the default 96MHz. 2014-09-08Haswell/falco/peppy/slippy: continue to clean up FUI.Ronald G. Minnich
As a first step towards removing hardcodes from the FUI support, change the haswell call to i915_lightup to panel_lightup, and pass the intel_dp * as a parameter. Get rid of the scalar arguments and make them part of intel_dp. Get rid of file-scope variables and use the ones in the intel_dp struct. In falco, use functions that peppy uses. Drop slippy support for FUI, it's a dead board; if this is ok I'll remove the files next. And, incidentally, fix the broken RGBX constant and change it to BGRX. 2014-08-25intel/gma: Clarify code and use dedicated init for Google PeppyRonald G. Minnich
Peppy had some issues with FUI. We decided it was time to create peppy-specific gma.c and i915io.c files. Using yabel and the i915tool, we generated a replay attack, then interpolated against the slippy i915io.c to get something working. Also, in preparation for moving code out of the mainboard gma.c to generic driver code, we got rid of some hardcodes in the mainboard gma.c that have no business being there. The worst were the computation of gmch_[m,n] and it turns out that we had some long-standing bugs related to confusion about 'bpp'. I've killed the word bpp everywhere I could because there are at least 3 things that correspond to bpp. We now have framebuffer, pipe, and panel bpp. The names are long because I want to avoid all the mistakes we've all been making in the last year :-) Sadly, that means a lot of changes not just peppy-related, but they are simple and in a good cause. The test pattern generation is driven by a global variable in mainboard/peppy/gma.c. I've found in the past that it's very useful to have a function like this available, as one can activate it while using a jtag debugger: halt at the right place in ramstage, set the variable to 1, continue. It's not enough code to worry about always including. The last hard-codes for M and N registers are gone, and the function to set from generic intel_dp.c code works. To avoid screen trash on a dev mode boot, which we liked but nobody else did :-), we now take the time to put a pleasing background color that sort of doubles as a power LED. Rough timing is ramstage start is at 2.2, and dev setup is done at 3.3. These new platforms are depressingly slow to boot. Rom init alone is taking 1.9 seconds. 13 years ago it was 3 seconds from power on to bash prompt. These CPUs are at least 10x faster and take much longer to get going. Future work, once we get this through, is to move more functions to the intel driver, and combine the mainboard i915io.c into the mainboard gma.c. That separation only existed because i915io.c was generated by a tool, and it had lots of ugliness. Most ugliness is gone.
