2022-04-14x86/mtrr: Print address ranges inclusive to be more consistentWerner Zeh
The printed address ranges in the tree (resource allocator and even some MTRR code) usually shows the range inclusive (meaning from start address to the real end address of the range). Though there is still some code in the MTRR context which prints the ranges with an exclusive end. This patch aligns the printing of ranges in the MTRR code to be consistent among the tree so that the shown end addresses are now inclusive. 2022-03-08timestamps: Rename timestamps to make names more consistentJakub Czapiga
This patch aims to make timestamps more consistent in naming, to follow one pattern. Until now there were many naming patterns: - TS_START_*/TS_END_* - TS_BEFORE_*/TS_AFTER_* - TS_*_START/TS_*_END This change also aims to indicate, that these timestamps can be used to create time-ranges, e.g. from TS_BOOTBLOCK_START to TS_BOOTBLOCK_END. 2021-03-16cbfs: Remove prog_locate() for stages and rmodulesJulius Werner
This patch removes the prog_locate() step for stages and rmodules. Instead, the stage and rmodule loading functions will now perform the locate step directly together with the actual loading. The long-term goal of this is to eliminate prog_locate() (and the rdev member in struct prog that it fills) completely in order to make CBFS verification code safer and its security guarantees easier to follow. prog_locate() is the main remaining use case where a raw rdev of CBFS file data "leaks" out of cbfs.c into other code, and that other code needs to manually make sure that the contents of the rdev get verified during loading. By eliminating this step and moving all code that directly deals with file data into cbfs.c, we can concentrate the code that needs to worry about file data hashing (and needs access to cbfs_private.h APIs) into one file, making it easier to keep track of and reason about. This patch is the first step of this move, later patches will do the same for SELFs and other program types. 2016-12-01arch/x86: cache postcar in stage cacheAaron Durbin
Stash and reload postcar stage in the stage cache for increased S3 resume speed. It's impact is small (2 ms or so), but there's no need to go to the boot media on resume to reload something that was already loaded. This aligns with the same paths we take on ramstage as well. 2016-09-12arch/x86: Utilize additional MTRRs in postcar_frame_add_mtrrRizwan Qureshi
In the current implementation of postcar_frame_add_mtrr, if provided size is bigger than the base address alignment, the alignment is considered as size and covered by the MTRRs ignoring the specified size. In this case the callee has to make sure that the provided size should be smaller or equal to the base address alignment boundary. To simplify this, utilize additonal MTRRs to cover the entire size specified. We reuse the code from cpu/x86/mtrr/mtrr.c. 2016-09-12arch/x86: Always compile postcar library in romstageRizwan Qureshi
postcar_loader.c has a useful library of funtions for setting up stack and MTRRs. Make it available in romstage irrespective of CONFIG_POSTCAR_STAGE for use in stack setup after Dram init. The final step of moving the used and max MTRRs on to stack is moved to a new function, that can be used outside of postcar phase. 2016-04-02lib/prog_loading: introduce prog_segment_loaded()Aaron Durbin
In order to not muddle arch vs chipset implementations provide a generic prog_segment_loaded() which calls platform_segment_loaded() and arch_segment_loaded() in that order. This allows the arch variants to live in src/arch while the chipset/platform code can implement their own. 2016-03-23arch/x86: introduce postcar stage/phaseAaron Durbin
Certain chipsets don't have a memory-mapped boot media so their code execution for stages prior to DRAM initialization is backed by SRAM or cache-as-ram. The postcar stage/phase handles the cache-as-ram situation where in order to tear down cache-as-ram one needs to be executing out of a backing store that isn't transient. By current definition, cache-as-ram is volatile and tearing it down leads to its contents disappearing. Therefore provide a shim layer, postcar, that's loaded into memory and executed which does 2 things: 1. Tears down cache-as-ram with a chipset helper function. 2. Loads and runs ramstage. Because those 2 things are executed out of ram there's no issue of the code's backing store while executing the code that tears down cache-as-ram. The current implementation makes no assumption regarding cacheability of the DRAM itself. If the chipset code wishes to cache DRAM for loading of the postcar stage/phase then it's also up to the chipset to handle any coherency issues pertaining to cache-as-ram destruction.
