2015-11-11arm/arm64: Generalize bootblock C entry pointJulius Werner
When we first added ARM support to coreboot, it was clear that the bootblock would need to do vastly different tasks than on x86, so we moved its main logic under arch/. Now that we have several more architectures, it turns out (as with so many things lately) that x86 is really the odd one out, and all the others are trying to do pretty much the same thing. This has already caused maintenance issues as the ARM32 bootblock developed and less-mature architectures were left behind with old cruft. This patch tries to address that problem by centralizing that logic under lib/ for use by all architectures/SoCs that don't explicitly opt-out (with the slightly adapted existing BOOTBLOCK_CUSTOM option). This works great out of the box for ARM32 and ARM64. It could probably be easily applied to MIPS and RISCV as well, but I don't have any of those boards to test so I'll mark them as BOOTBLOCK_CUSTOM for now and leave that for later cleanup. 2015-04-10x86: Support reset routines in bootblockLee Leahy
Expand the boot block include file to allow for a file containing reset routines to be added. Prevent breaking existing platforms by using a Kconfig value to specify the path to this file, and have the code include this file only if the Kconfig value is set. 2015-02-16nvram: Add option to reset NVRAM to default parameters on every bootTimothy Pearson
In specific configurations, such as homogeneous supercomputing systems, changeable NVRAM parameters are more of a liability than a useful tool. This patch allows a coreboot image to be compiled that will always set the NVRAM parameters to their default values, reducing maintainance overhead on large clusters. 2013-11-26Extend CMOS POST code logging to store extra dataDuncan Laurie
This can be used to indicate sub-state within a POST code range which can assist in debugging BIOS hangs. For example this can be used to indicate which device is about to be initialized so if the system hangs while talking to that device it can be identified. 2013-02-06bootblock: Reduce register loadPatrick Georgi
The common part of the bootblock resets the nvram data if it's found to be invalid. Since that code is compiled with romcc in i386 mode, there's a shortage on registers. Try to reduce the strain by doing things smarter: cmos_write_inner is the same as cmos_write, just that it doesn't check if the RTC is disabled. Since we just disabled it before, we can assume that it is so. Change allows to override default bootblock_mainboard_init() with mainboard-specific code. If the default bootblock_mainboard_init() handler is replaced, with one from file BOOTBLOCK_MAINBOARD_INIT, one needs to take care the replacement calls all the necessary bootblock_x_init() functions. 2012-11-08Add support for storing POST codes in CMOSDuncan Laurie
This will use 3 bytes of CMOS to keep track of the POST code for the current boot while also leaving a record of the previous boot. The active bank is switched early in the bootblock. Detection of a CPU being a BSP CPU is not dependent of the existence of northbridge and/or southbridge init code in the bootblock. Even if CONFIG_LOGICAL_CPUS==0, boot_cpu() can get executed on an AP CPU of a hyper-threading CPU and needs to return actual BSP bit from MSR. The cmos.default code wasn't actually used so far, due to an oversight when forward-porting this feature from an old branch. - Extend walkcbfs' use by factoring out the stage handling into C code. - New sanitize_cmos() function that looks if CMOS data is invalid and cmos.default exists and if so overwrites CMOS with cmos.default data. - Use sanitize_cmos() in both bootblock implementations. - Drop the need to reboot after writing CMOS: CMOS wasn't used so far, so we can go on without a reboot. - Remove the restriction that cmos.default only works on CAR boards. - Always build in cmos.default support on boards that USE_OPTION_TABLE.
