2022-05-12Makefile.inc: Generate master header and pointer as C structsArthur Heymans
The makefiles don't like cbfs file names with spaces in them so update the file name with '_' instead of spaces. To keep the master header at the top of cbfs, add a placeholder. This removes the need to handle the cbfs master header in cbfstool. This functionality will be dropped in a later CL. On x86 reserve some space in the linker script to add the pointer. On non-x86 generate a pointer inside a C struct file. As a bonus this would actually fix the master header pointer mechanism on Intel/APL as only the bootblock inside IFWI gets memory mapped. TESTED on thinkpad X201: SeaBIOS correctly finds the cbfs master header. 2021-12-21arch/x86: Init firmware pointer for EC SMSC KBC1098/KBC1126 at build timeBill XIE
According to util/kbc1126/README.md, for these ECs to work, the address and size of their two firmware should be written to $s-0x100` (`$s` means the image size, done with kbc1126_ec_insert), which means that every existing section (especially those used to store code) should not overlap this address, otherwise the bootblock will get damaged when inserting firmwares of the EC. In this commit, ecfw_ptr is a structure initialized at build time according to CONFIG_KBC1126_FW1_OFFSET and CONFIG_KBC1126_FW2_OFFSET (to do so, they should be redefined as hex), and linked to CONFIG_ECFW_PTR_ADDR within bootblock, so kbc1126_ec_insert is not needed at build time any more. Test passed on Elitebook Folio 9470m. Align the bootblock size to 64 bytes because: - cachelines are often 64 bytes large - Bootguard/CBnT requires a 64 byte alignment Change-Id: I69cdacdd15bfca1b91b6f271f2ff76889969fd91 Signed-off-by: Arthur Heymans <arthur@aheymans.xyz> Reviewed-on: https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/55046 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) <no-reply@coreboot.org> Reviewed-by: Kyösti Mälkki <kyosti.malkki@gmail.com>

Move .text section closer to .init. This reduces the size of the flat bootblock binary and footprint in CBFS. Link .init section near the end of bootblock program. It contains _start16bit, gdtptr and gdt that must be addressable from realmode, thus within top 64 KiB. 2021-01-04arch/x86: Move .id section higherKyösti Mälkki
The (now removed) ID_SECTION_OFFSET=0x80 was actually the secondary address flashrom and FILO are looking for. The primary was 0x10, just below .reset. If .id does not collide with .fit_pointer, use the higher of the two locations. 2020-12-16arch/x86: Clean up bootblock assemblyKyösti Mälkki
We have identical gdtptr16 and gdtptr. The reference in gdtptr_offset calculation is not accounted for when considering --gc-sections, so to support linking gdt_init.S separately add dummy use of gdtptr symbol. Realmode execution already accessed gdt that was located outside [_start16bit,_estart16bit] region. Remove latter symbol as the former was not really a start of region, but entry point symbol. With the romcc bootblock solution, entry32.inc may have been linked into romstage before, but the !ENV_BOOTBLOCK case seems obsolete now. 2019-09-10AUTHORS: Move src/arch/x86 copyrights into AUTHORS fileMartin Roth
As discussed on the mailing list and voted upon, the coreboot project is going to move the majority of copyrights out of the headers and into an AUTHORS file. This will happen a bit at a time, as we'll be unifying license headers at the same time. 2015-09-09x86: bootblock: remove linking and program flow from build systemAaron Durbin
The build system was previously determining the flow and linking scripts bootblock code by the order of files added to the bootblock_inc bootblock-y variables. Those files were then concatenated together and built by a myriad of make rules. Now bootblock.S and bootblock.ld is added so that bootblock can be built and linked using the default build rules. CHIPSET_BOOTBLOCK_INCLUDE is introduced in order to allow the chipset code to place include files in the path of the bootblock program -- a replacement for the chipset_bootblock_inc make variable.
