2022-08-12libpayload: usbmsc: Prevent usbdisk_remove() from being called twiceYidi Lin
When removing SD card from USB card reader, the USB MSC stack does not detach the device immediately. Instead, the USB MSC stack calls usbdisk_remove() and calls usb_msc_destroy() after several pollings. It results in usbdisk_remove() being called twice. Since the usbmsc_inst_t instance is freed after first usbdisk_remove() call, the second call invokes an invalid usbmsc_inst_t instance and causes exception in CPU. This patch prevents usbdisk_remove() from being called twice by setting usbdisk_created to zero. BUG=b:239492347 TEST=insert an empty SD card into the USB card reader then remove the SD card. AP firmware does not crash. 2020-07-21libpayload/xhci: Try harder to read 32-bit caps at onceNico Huber
With commit 287cf6c7d1 (lp/drivers/usb: Work around QEMU XHCI register issue) we restructured our capability register accesses because the compiler used the wrong access size. While we do use only 32-bit types now, a compiler may still try to be clever and optimize things in unexpected ways. So we add an explicit read32() now. For instance for the 8-bit MaxPorts field, in the most significant bits of `capreg + 4`, our read + mask + shift ((cap)->hciparams1 & 0xff000000) >> 24 was turned into a single 8-bit read instruction by GCC on x86: 31: 0f b6 52 07 movzbl 0x7(%edx),%edx Change-Id: I76accd0ef718e70ca46807eb06a9177c3afd99f1 Signed-off-by: Nico Huber <nico.h@gmx.de> Reviewed-on: https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/43575 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) <no-reply@coreboot.org> Reviewed-by: Duncan Laurie <dlaurie@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Angel Pons <th3fanbus@gmail.com> Reviewed-by: Julius Werner <jwerner@chromium.org>

2020-04-30libpayload: xhci: Do not memcpy registersJulius Werner
memcpy() is meant to be used on normal memory and often implemented with architecture-specific optimizations to make that as performant as possible. MMIO registers often have special access restrictions that may be incompatible with whatever memcpy() does. For example, on arm64 it uses the LDP (load pair) to load 16 bytes at a time, which makes 4-byte MMIO registers unhappy. This patch removes the caching of the XHCI capreg registers and changes it back to a pointer. The CAP_GET() macro is still accessing a full (non-bitfield) uint32_t at the end so this should still generate a 4-byte access (which was the goal of the original change in CB:39838). 2019-09-18libpayload: Use interrupt transfers for USB hubsNico Huber
In interactive payloads, the USB stack's poll procedure is implicitly called from the UI loop. Since all USB control transfers are handled synchronously, polling hubs with these slows the UI significantly down. So switch to interrupt transfers that are done asynchronously and only perform control transfers when the hub reported a status change. We use the interrupt endpoint's max packet size instead of the theo- retical transfer length of `(bNrPorts + 1) / 8` as Linux' code mentions hubs that return too much data. 2019-08-22libpayload: usbmsc: Factor out usb_msc_force_init() functionJulius Werner
We're planning to have a use case with a custom USB device that implements the USB mass storage protocol on its bulk endpoints, but does not have the normal MSC class/protocol interface descriptors and does not support class-specific control requests (Get Max LUN and Bulk-Only Reset). We'd like to identify/enumerate the device via usb_generic_create() in our payload but then reuse all the normal MSC driver code. In order to make that possible, this patch factors a new usb_msc_force_init() function out of usb_msc_init() which will initialize an MSC device without checking its descriptors. It also adds some "quirks" flags that allow devices registered this way to customize behavior of the MSC stack. 2019-08-22libpayload: usbmsc: Skip zero-length packets at end of dataJulius Werner
Some broken USB mass storage devices send another zero-length packet at the end of the data part of a transfer if the amount of data was evenly divisible by the packet size (which is pretty much always the case for block reads). This packet will get interpreted as the CSW and screw up the MSC state machine. This patch works around this issue by retrying the CSW transfer when it was received as exactly 0 bytes. This is the same mitigation the Linux kernel uses and harmless for correctly behaving devices. Also tighten validation of the CSW a little, making sure we verify the length before we read any fields and checking the signature in addition to the tag. 2018-02-16libpayload: usbhid: Zero-initialize all parts of usbhid instance structJulius Werner
The USBHID driver zero-initializes some but not all of the fields in its usbhid_inst_t structure. This is a problem because under some circumstances, some of the uninitialized fields may be read and lead to incorrect behavior. Some (broken) USB keyboards keep sending reports that contain all zeroes even when they have no new keys... these usually get silently ignored, but if the usbhid_inst_t structure is in an inconsistent state where 'previous' is zeroed out but 'lastkeypress' is non-zero because it wasn't properly initialized, these reports will be interpreted as keyrepeats of the bogus 'lastkeypress'. This patch changes the code to just xzalloc() the whole structure so we won't have to worry about initialization issues anymore. 2016-10-17libpayload: Reintroduce CONFIG_LP_CHROMEOS to set suitable defaultsJulius Werner
Chrome OS builds always have some inherent differences to "standard" libpayload configurations: they don't want to use curses or things like storage drivers, they always use the coreboot framebuffer and USB, etc. This patch reintroduces CONFIG_LP_CHROMEOS as an option that only affects Kconfig defaults. This allows Chrome OS builds to select most of what they need in one go and reduces board-specific .config files to only the options that are really specific to that board. Also restricts the 8250_SERIAL_CONSOLE Kconfig to only default to yes on x86 boards, which probably makes sense for all of libpayload (some but far from all ARM boards use 8250-compatible UARTs, and we should probably not default a platform option unless it's going to be correct with very high probability). 2015-07-18libpayload: usb: xhci: Prevent address reuseJulius Werner
We have been trying to avoid reassigning previously used USB addresses to different devices since CL:197420, because some devices seem to take issue with that. Unfortunately, that patch doesn't affect XHCI: those controllers insist on chosing addresses on their own. The only way to prevent them from reusing a previously assigned address is to not disable that slot at all. This patch implements address reuse avoidance on XHCI by not disabling slots when a device is detatched (which may occur both on physical detachment or if we simply couldn't find a driver for that device). Instead, we just release as many resources as we can for detached devices (by dropping all endpoint contexts) and defer the final cleanup until the point where the controller actually runs out of resources (a point that we probably don't often reach in most firmware scenarios). BRANCH=none BUG=chrome-os-partner:42181 TEST=Booted an Oak plugged into a Servo without having a driver for the SMSC network chip, observed that it could still enumerate the next device afterwards. 2015-06-03libpayload: usb: Support MTK xHCI host controllerYidi Lin
1. There is a mis-understanding to calculate the value of TD Size in Normal TRB. For MTK's xHCI controller it defines a number of packets that remain to be transferred for a TD after processing all Max packets in all previous TRBs, that means don't include the current TRB's. 2. To minimize the scheduling effort for synchronous endpoints in xHC, the MTK architecture defines some extra SW scheduling parameters for HW. According to these parameters provided by SW, the xHC can easily decide whether a synchronous endpoint should be scheduled in a specific uFrame. The extra SW scheduling parameters are put into reserved DWs in Slot and Endpoint Context. But in coreboot synchronous transfer can be ignored, so only two fields are set to a default value 1 to support bulk and interrupt transfers, and others are set to zero. 3. For control transfer, it is better to read back doorbell register or add a memory barrier after ringing the doorbell to flush posted write. Otherwise the first command will be aborted on MTK's xHCI controller. 4. Before send commands to a port, the Port Power in PORTSC register should be set to 1 on MTK's xHCI so a hook function of enable_port in generic_hub_ops_t struct is provided. As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons but because there are tools that look for them, and giving them a standard pattern simplifies things. However, we got confirmation that we don't have to update every file ever added to coreboot whenever the FSF gets a new lease, but can drop the address instead. util/kconfig is excluded because that's imported code that we may want to synchronize every now and then. $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin St, Fifth Floor, Boston, *MA[, ]*02110-1301[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 51 Franklin Street, Suite 500, Boston, MA 02110-1335, USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 59 Temple Place[-, ]*Suite 330, Boston, MA *02111-1307[, ]*USA:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -exec sed -i "s:Foundation, Inc., 675 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA.:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + $ find * -type f -a \! -name \*.patch \ -a \! -name \*_shipped \ -a \! -name LICENSE_GPL \ -a \! -name LGPL.txt \ -a \! -name COPYING \ -a \! -name DISCLAIMER \ -exec sed -i "/Foundation, Inc./ N;s:Foundation, Inc.* USA\.* *:Foundation, Inc. :;s:Foundation, Inc. $:Foundation, Inc.:" {} + Change-Id: Icc968a5a5f3a5df8d32b940f9cdb35350654bef9 Signed-off-by: Patrick Georgi <pgeorgi@chromium.org> Reviewed-on: http://review.coreboot.org/9233 Tested-by: build bot (Jenkins) Reviewed-by: Vladimir Serbinenko <phcoder@gmail.com>

If a TD is comprised of one or more Normal TRBs and terminated with an Event Data TRB, then the transition to the Idle state (and associated Stream state save) could occur after all the data for the TD has been moved (e.g. after Transfer Event TRBs have been executed), but before the Event Data TRB is executed. Under these conditions, the execution of the Event Data TRB is necessary to complete the TD, otherwise it does not occur until the next time the Stream is scheduled. This could lead to the lock up.
