coreboot's Makefile exports a lot of variables that influence make sub- processes (e.g. for Kconfig). We don't want these variables leak into sub-processes for (lib)payload builds, hence unexport them. 2020-11-02coreinfo: Add support for link time optimizationJacob Garber
This introduces a Kconfig option for compiling coreinfo with LTO. This option can be used independently of LTO in libpayload, though will benefit most if that is enabled as well. If both are enabled, the final size of coreinfo.elf is reduced from 95 KiB to 92 KiB. Tested in QEMU and on Thinkpad T500. In the presence of self-relocating payloads, it's safer to keep physical addresses in `libsysinfo`. This updates all the references to CBMEM entries that are not consumed inside libpayload code. 2020-08-24libpayload: Cache physical cbmem console addressNico Huber
Same as with other consoles and drivers that cache an address outside the payload (e.g. video/corebootfb), we should store the physical address, so we can derive the virtual address on demand. This makes it save to use the address across relocations. As a first step in migrating `libsysinfo` to `uintptr_t`, we also switch to the physical address there. Fixes the default build of FILO, tested with Qemu/i440FX and Qemu/Q35. 2019-07-07payloads/coreinfo: Use fixed-width integers for cpuidJacob Garber
This function executes the cpuid instruction, which takes a 32 bit input value (idx), and then stores output in eax, ebx, ecx, and edx, which are all 32 bit registers. Update the prototype to use fixed-width integers, and update all usage calls appropriately. Pointer math with void pointers is illegal in many compilers, though it works with GCC because it assumes size of void to be 1. Change the pointers or add parenthesis to force a proper order that will not cause compile errors if compiled with a different compiler, and more importantly, don't have unsuspected side effects. In order to support booting a GNU/Linux payload on non x86, the FIT format should be used, as it is the defacto standard on ARM. Due to greater complexity of FIT it is not converted to simple ELF format. Add support for autodecting FIT payloads and add them as new CBFS_TYPE 'fit'. The payload is included as is, with no special header. The code can determine the type at runtime using the CBFS_TYPE field. Support for parsing FIT payloads in coreboot is added in a follow on commit. Compression of FIT payloads is not supported, as the FIT sections might be compressed itself. Starting at this point a CBFS payload/ can be either of type FIT or SELF. Tested on Cavium SoC. Per PCI specification, function 0 must be present, so functions 1 to 7 can be skipped in this case. For a device that is not multi-function, it may not decode function number in the hardware at all. To avoid registering such a device eight times, skip scanning functions 1 to 7. Without the latter fix, a single-function PCI bridge may call pci_scan_bus() second time and secondary side devices would get appended second time in the array devices[]. At that point, quicksort() apparently hits an infinite recursion loop. Since pci_scan_bus() is called in part of the early modules->init() sequence early in main(), the errors here left coreinfo payload completely silent when PCI module was built-in on affected system. Terminal screen was cleared, though. 2017-04-20Turn CBMEM console into a ring buffer that can persist across rebootsJulius Werner
This patch allows the CBMEM console to persist across reboots, which should greatly help post factum debugging of issues involving multiple reboots. In order to prevent the console from filling up, it will instead operate as a ring buffer that continues to evict the oldest lines once full. (This means that if even a single boot doesn't fit into the buffer, we will now drop the oldest lines whereas previous code would've dropped the newest lines instead.) The console control structure is modified in a sorta backwards-compatible way, so that new readers can continue to work with old console buffers and vice versa. When an old reader reads a new buffer that has already once overflowed (i.e. is operating in true ring buffer mode) it will print lines out of order, but it will at least still print out the whole console content and not do any illegal memory accesses (assuming it correctly implemented cursor overflow as it was already possible before this patch). BUG=chromium:651966 TEST=Rebooted and confirmed output repeatedly on a Kevin and a Falco. Also confirmed correct behavior across suspend/resume for the latter. The old bootlog_module implementation was completely broken: - It assumed that the console buffer is located at address 0x90000, and of size 64K. It is not correct nowadays. - It displayed the buffer in a very hacky way, the code was riddled with TODOs and FIXMEs. Scrolling had sometimes unexpected behavior. The new implementation: - Uses the cbmem console as the source of data. It takes the console information from lib_sysinfo of libpayload, which is constructed from the coreboot tables (no more hardcoded adressess). - Properly sanitizes the console buffer for display, which makes scolling and display much easier to implement. As per discussion with lawyers[tm], it's not a good idea to shorten the license header too much - not for legal reasons but because there are tools that look for them, and giving them a standard pattern simplifies things. 2012-11-08Refactor the endianness conversion functions and header files.Gabe Black
The endianness of an architecture is now set up automatically using Kconfig and some common code. The available conversion functions were also expanded to go to or from a particular endianness. Those use the abbreviation le or be for little or big endian. Built for Stumpy and saw coreinfo cbfs support work which uses network byte order. Used the functions which convert to little endian to implement an AHCI driver. The source arch is also little endian, so they were effectively (and successfully) inert.
