The .inc suffix is confusing to various tools as it's not specific to Makefiles. 2023-11-09Allow to build romstage sources inside the bootblockArthur Heymans
Having a separate romstage is only desirable: - with advanced setups like vboot or normal/fallback - boot medium is slow at startup (some ARM SOCs) - bootblock is limited in size (Intel APL 32K) When this is not the case there is no need for the extra complexity that romstage brings. Including the romstage sources inside the bootblock substantially reduces the total code footprint. Often the resulting code is 10-20k smaller. This is controlled via a Kconfig option. TESTED: works on qemu x86, arm and aarch64 with and without VBOOT. 2022-12-31Enable VBOOT_VBNV_FLASH for SOC_INTEL_BRASWELLYu-Ping Wu
To deprecate VBOOT_VBNV_CMOS [1], replace VBOOT_VBNV_CMOS with VBOOT_VBNV_FLASH for boards using SOC_INTEL_BRASWELL. Currently BOOT_DEVICE_SPI_FLASH_NO_EARLY_WRITES is selected for CPU_INTEL_HASWELL, SOC_INTEL_BRASWELL and others (see [2]). However, there seems to be no particular reason on those platforms. We've dropped the config for haswell. Now do the same for SOC_INTEL_BRASWELL, so that VBOOT_VBNV_FLASH can be enabled. VBOOT_VBNV_FLASH is enabled for the following boards: - facebook/fbg1701: A 0x2000 RW_NVRAM region is allocated, with the FW_MAIN_A(CBFS) size reduced by 0x2000. - google/cyan, intel/strago: Repurpose RW_UNUSED as RW_NVRAM. 2021-09-17skylake DDR4 boards: Set `CaVrefConfig` to 2Angel Pons
The `CaVrefConfig` FSP-M UPD describes how the on-die Vref generators are connected to the DRAM. With the exception of an early Skylake RVP board (which doesn't have coreboot support), mainboards using DDR3 or LPDDR3 memory should set `CaVrefConfig` to 0, whereas mainboards with DDR4 should set `CaVrefConfig` to 2. MRC uses this information during memory training, so it is important to use the correct value to avoid any issues, such as increased power usage, system instability or even boot failures. However, several Skylake DDR4 mainboards don't set `CaVrefConfig` to 2. Although they can boot successfully, it's not optimal. For boards that set `DIMM_SPD_SIZE` to 512 (DDR4 SPD size), set `CaVrefConfig` to 2. 2021-03-17spd_bin: Replace get_spd_cbfs_rdev() with spd_cbfs_map()Julius Werner
In pursuit of the goal of eliminating the proliferation of raw region devices to represent CBFS files outside of the CBFS core code, this patch removes the get_spd_cbfs_rdev() API and instead replaces it with spd_cbfs_map() which will find and map the SPD file in one go and return a pointer to the relevant section. (This makes it impossible to unmap the mapping again, which all but one of the users didn't bother to do anyway since the API is only used on platforms with memory-mapped flash. Presumably this will stay that way in the future so this is not something worth worrying about.)
